We present a formal [2 + 2]-cycloaddition of unsaturated ketones enabled by a green-to-ultraviolet triplet-triplet annihilation upconversion (TTA-UC) pair, using commercially available Ru(bpy)32+ and pyrene as sensitizer and annihilator, respectively. In the developed protocol, visible light irradiation at λmax = 520 nm allows for the reaction to proceed without the need for UV-light and the aqueous medium eliminates the need for oxygen removing protocols. Conjoined triplets are among the rarest of human malformations, as are asymmetric or parasitic conjoined twins. Based on a very modest corpus of recent literature, we applied the embryonic disk model of conjoined twinning to 10 previously reported cases involving asymmetric anatomical multiplications to determine whether they concerned conjoined twins or conjoined triplets. A 28-year-old woman undertaking in vitro fertilisation had a single day five blastocyst transferred, resulting in a monozygotic triplet pregnancy. This case report illustrates the potential for multiple pregnancies even after transfer of a single embryo. A literature review regarding monozygotic triplets following use of assisted reproductive techniques reveals that an unexpectedly large proportion of these cases are associated with blastocyst transfer.

Vinyl triflimides are a new compound class with unknown reactivity. A computational analysis identified homolytic cleavage of the N-Tf bond induced by triplet-triplet energy transfer (EnT) as a highly interesting reaction type that might be accessible. A combination of experimental and mechanistic work verified this hypothesis and proved the generated radicals to be amenable to radical-radical coupling. OBJECTIVE: The objective of the present study was to evaluate adverse perinatal outcome in a group of high order pregnancies pared with singletons by BW and GA at birth.
METHODS: Data was reviewed for all admissions of triplets and quadruplets in a 7 year period. For each study neonate we selected two singleton infants to constitute a control group. The authors report refractive errors possibly resulting from intravitreal bevacizumab injection. Triplet A presented with stage 3 retinopathy of prematurity, was treated with intravitreal bevacizumab, and high refractive errors were noted. The temporal variation in the stillbirth rates (SBR), measured as the number of stillborn per 1000 total births, among singletons, twins and triplets was studied on Swedish birth data for the period 1869 to 2001 and comparisons with data from other populations were made.
