Bats in captivity reproduce well and contraceptive techniques are needed. In initial attempts at vasectomy using a prescrotal approach, it was difficult to identify the mesoductus deferens. PURPOSE: Intraoperative sperm banking has been recommended during vasectomy reversal. These specimens are maintained as insurance for possible future intracytoplasmic sperm injection. We evaluated the fate of specimens collected intraoperatively from 48 vasectomy reversal patients.

Of a group of 860 men who attended a private infertility clinic in Western Australia, 80 (9.3%) presented with vasectomy-related infertility. Of these men, 73 (91%) requested treatment due to re-marriage. The median age of the men was 42.5 years and their present partners were approximately 10 years younger.
