OBJECTIVES: Genetics is a significant contributor to acute recurrent pancreatitis. This study evaluates the prevalence of genetic variants and assesses electrophysiological characteristics in Israeli patients.
METHODS: Patients with ≥2 episodes of acute pancreatitis, no history of drug use, normal IgG4 levels, and normal cholangiopancreatographic findings were included. To determine the effects of different sources of protein on the growth performance of newly weaned piglets, 72 newly weaned piglets were randomly assigned to three groups fed different diets (soya bean, casein and dried distillers' grain with solubles (DDGS) feeds). We report our initial clinical experience with local transrectal application of enzymatic treatment for chronic nonbacterial prostatitis and prostatodynia in 20 patients. Using a specially designed symptom score for evaluation of subjective treatment parameters, a statistically significant improvement of symptoms was found in the areas of pain, micturition, and recreational activities.
