Collagenous colitis is associated with chronic diarrhoea and inflammatory changes detected by colonic biopsy, but no endoscopic abnormalities. Cutaneous polyarteritis nodosa shows the same histopathology as systemic polyarteritis nodosa, but is limited to the skin. Both diseases are rare and of unknown aetiology. Collagenous colitis has been described in association with different autoimmune disorders. We report on a case of collagenous colitis and cutaneous polyarteritis nodosa. To our knowledge, this association has not been reported previously.

Relapsing polychondritis (RP) is a disease characterized by inflammation and the destruction of cartilage. The detection of antibodies to native type II collagen (CII) in the sera of some patients with relapsing polychondritis suggests that autoimmunity to this cartilage specific protein plays a role in the pathogenesis of the disease. RP is so rare that controlled therapeutic trials have not been carried out. We describe herein a child with RP who had amelioration of symptoms and a deviation in the cellular immune response to CII after being treated with daily oral CII as a toleragen.

METHODS: We have ameliorated Hansburgh and Middelkoop's method of manufacturing artificial dermis. The type I collagenase and Dispase were used to isolated neonate prepuce' dermis fibroblast. The gel dermis was constructed by compounding the fibroblast and collagen swelling solution. The property of the collagen gel dermis was measured.
