PURPOSE: To assess whether C‑reactive protein (CRP), white blood cell count (WBC) and body temperature changes are suitable parameters for the early detection of septic complications following resection of colorectal deep endometriosis (DE).

When a relatively small anastomotic recurrence of colorectal cancer is detected in the low rectum, trans-anal resection (TAR) might be an option both for curative intent and for preservation of anal function. We report 3 such cases. Case No. 1: A 58-year-old woman presented with an anastomotic recurrence of sigmoid colon cancer. Low anterior resection(LAR)was performed. Two small recurrent nodules were detected at the suture line 1 year after LAR, which were successfully treated with TAR. The depth of the nodules indicated T2 cancer. The introduction of new techniques and technologies in medical science is both stimulating and controversial. This article is a review of the current status of two such advances. Since its first description, the so-called "stapled hemorrhoidectomy" has been gaining increasing popularity, at first in Asia and Europe, and more recently in the United States. It is obviously a misnomer, since no excision of hemorrhoidal tissue is undertaken in this procedure.
