Systematic Review of Management of Moderate Wasting in Children over 6 Months of Age.

The effective management of the 33 million children with moderate acute malnutrition (MAM) is key to reducing childhood morbidity and mortality. In this review, we aim to evaluate the effectiveness of specially formulated foods (SFFs) compared to non-food-based approaches to manage MAM in children >6 months old. We conducted a search on ten databases until 23 August 2021 and included five studies, covering 3387 participants. Meta-analysis of four studies comparing SFFs to counselling or standard of care showed that SFFs likely increase recovery rate, reduce non-response, and may improve weight

Categorizing Complainant-Accused Relationships in Cases of Child Sexual Abuse: The Distinctive Nature of Community Connections.

We examined the categorization of relationships between child complainants and accused perpetrators in cases of child sexual abuse (CSA). Researchers that have focused on complainant-accused relationships and other case variables, often combining two extrafamilial complainant-accused relationship categories: Relationships where the accused is connected to the child through their position in the community (i.e. community connections) and relationships where the non-relative accused is known to the child through a connection to the child's family (i.e. non-relative family connections). Standards of NGS Data Sharing and Analysis in Ataxias: Recommendations by the NGS Working Group of the Ataxia Global Initiative.

The Ataxia Global Initiative (AGI) is a worldwide multi-stakeholder research platform to systematically enhance trial-readiness in degenerative ataxias. The next-generation sequencing (NGS) working group of the AGI aims to improve methods, platforms, and international standards for ataxia NGS analysis and data sharing, ultimately allowing to increase the number of genetically ataxia patients amenable for natural history and treatment trials. Despite extensive implementation of NGS for ataxia patients in clinical and research settings, the diagnostic gap remains sizeable, as approximately 50% o

European trends in ovarian cancer mortality, 1990-2020 and predictions to 2025.

INTRODUCTION: Over the last decades, ovarian cancer mortality in Europe has been decreasing, but disparities in trends were observed. In this paper, we analysed ovarian cancer mortality trends in Europe over the period 1990-2020 and predicted the number of deaths and rates by 2025. METHODS: We extracted population and death certification data from ovarian cancer in women for 31 European countries, between 1990 and 2020 from the World Health Organization database. We computed age-standardised mortality rates (ASMR) per 100,000 women-years, based on the world standard population. We also obtain

Road traffic death coding quality in the WHO Mortality Database.

OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the precision and dependability of road traffic mortality data recorded in the World Health Organization Mortality Database and investigate how uncorrected data influence vital mortality statistics used in traffic safety programmes worldwide. METHODS: We assessed country and territory-specific data quality from 2015 to 2020 by calculating the proportions of five types of nonspecific cause of death codes related to road traffic mortality. We compared age-adjusted road traffic mortality and changes in the average annual mortality rate before and after correcting the death

Biomechanical testing of osteosynthetic locking plates for proximal humeral shaft fractures - a systematic literature review.

Proximal humeral shaft fractures can be treated with helically deformed bone plates to reduce the risk of iatrogenic nerve lesion. Controversially to this common surgical technique that was first established in 1999, no biomechanical investigation on humeral helical plating is recorded by other reviews, which focus on proximal fractures exclusively. Does an additional scope for shaft fractures reveal findings of helical testing? The present systematic literature review was performed based on guidelines by Kitchenham et al. to systematically search and synthesize literature regarding biomechani
