OBJECTIVE: Erythema multiforme (EM), Stevens Johnson syndrome (SJS), and toxic epidermal necrolysis syndrome (TENS) are exfoliative disorders that may present as complications in some patients undergoing radiotherapy. The purpose of this literature review was to determine the reported frequency of these exanthemata in irradiated patients.
METHODS: A comprehensive search from 1903 to 2011, identified 89 articles with 165 cases.

We present a case of a woman with a 14-year history of rheumatoid arthritis, who showed simultaneously and gradually appearing, annular, erythematous, itchy patches and exacerbation of the joint symptoms, of one month duration, after pregnancy. The preventive effect of low concentrations of zinc sulphate solution in recurrent herpes simplex of the skin and oral mucous membrane is reported. Treatment with zinc sulphate solution of the skin at the site of the herpetic infection also prevents relapse of post-herpetic erythema multiforme.
