Today total cavopulmonary connection (TCPC) is the treatment of choice for long term palliation of patients with hypoplastic left heart syndrome (HLHS). We report a new, relatively simple and effective method to occlude a modified baffle (TCPC) fenestration via the left hepatic vein in two patients with HLHS with the use of electrolytically detachable platinum microcoils after a failed tourniquet closure.

OBJECTIVE: We review our experience with Fontan conversion and cryoablation in patients with an atriopulmonary Fontan in low cardiac output from arrhythmia or venous obstruction, including two patients with protein losing enteropathy.
METHODS: Fifteen patients (mean age 25.0 +/- 8.4 years) underwent extracardiac Fontan conversion, cryoablation, and pacemaker placement between November 1999 and December 2004. Twelve patients were in NYHA class III and three were in NYHA class IV. Twelve had clinically important intraatrial reentry tachycardia refractory to medical therapy.

Patients with complex congenital cardiac malformations who have been converted to the Fontan circulation with partial exclusion of the hepatic veins may develop progressive cyanosis because of formation of intrahepatic veno-venous malformations. We describe transcatheter closure of a major intrahepatic fistula in such a setting using an Amplatzer septal occluder delivered by the left jugular venous approach in a 5 year old boy.

OBJECTIVE: Hybrid palliation with branch pulmonary artery banding (bPAB) has become increasingly common in the early management of patients with critical left ventricular outflow obstruction. Optimal subsequent surgical palliation remains undefined.
METHODS: We retrospectively reviewed patients undergoing initial bPAB for single ventricle physiology with systemic outflow obstruction (2001-2013, n = 37). This study aims to describe a case series of patients who underwent thoracic duct embolization (TDE) to treat traumatic iatrogenic chylothor … l copolymer. Case#3: A 6-year-old patient with congenital heart disease developed a TIC following a Fontan procedure and was treated with TDE using NBCA glue. All lesions were identified during lymphangiography and TDE was successfully performed in all cases. TDE is a safe and valuable technique that provides minimally invasive treatment for TCI.
