Traumatic acute subdural hematomas over the convexity of the cerebral hemispheres are often encountered, but acute interhemispheric subdural hematomas are rare. Fourty-eight cases of acute subdural hematomas was admitted to our hospital between 1977 and 1986, and three cases of them (6%) were located in the interhemispheric subdural space. INTRODUCTION: Craniofacial fibrous dysplasia commonly affects the larger mandible and the maxillary bones. Although involvement of the frontal, temporal and sphenoid bones has been described, fibrous dysplasia of the nasal bone has not been previously described; the two cases reported here have been made rarer by their isolated involvement. Resorbable plates and screws have been widely accepted for use in pediatric craniofacial surgery, including FOA. A 58-year-old man had an enlarging right fronto-orbital mass. A biopsy specimen of a right nasal cavity tumor was reported as meningioma. Preoperative evaluation including skull roentgenograms, tomograms of the paranasal sinuses, brain scan, computerized axial tomography, and carotid angiography substantiated a large subfrontal mass with paranasal sinus and orbital extension. A combined approach through a right frontal craniotomy and right lateral rhinotomy was used for a complete removal of this tumor. A review of the literature is contained herein.

Traumatic anosmy can be found after any traumatism of the skull, whatever its impact and intensity. A long loss of consciousness or a heavy post-commotionnal syndrom can increase a traumatic anosmy. The best way to really assess a traumatic loss of smell is to use of olfacto-breathing reflex and possibility for confirmation, the olfactive electroencephalography. The suppression of a traumatic anosmy can happen, but the published statistics on this matter seem a little too optimistic. With regard to stimulators, the rate is far too high than it is usually accepted.
