BACKGROUND: Cardiovascular disease risk accelerates in women after the menopausal transition, coinciding with the cessation of endogenous oestrogen production. The accompanying decline in vascular function is considered a key driver of this shift. However, longitudinal studies investigating the impact and time course of changes in cardiovascular and skeletal muscle function during the menopausal transition and in the subsequent years are warranted.
OBJECTIVES: The Women in Healthy Transition (KiSO) Deep Phenotyping (DP) study is a multidisciplinary prospective longitudinal cohort study with t

BACKGROUND The liver is a frequent site of surgical resection for both benign and malignant lesions. Advanced knowledge of the hepatic arterial system and its variants is crucial to avoid incidental injuries during a resection procedure. Many variants have been previously described in the literature, yet extremely rare cases continue to be encountered in clinical practice. Documentation of these variants can thus allow for proper preoperative procedural planning when considering interventions involving the liver. Our aim is to present one such unique and extremely rare anomaly. CASE REPORT Dur

A case of arterial stenosis after coil migration in intracranial aneurysm embolization is presented. A 51-year-old woman suffered sudden onset of headache and unconsciousness. Computed tomography demonstrated diffuse subarachnoid hemorrhage and cerebral angiography disclosed a right internal carotid artery (ICA) bifurcation aneurysm and a right ICA-anterior choroidal artery aneurysm. The aneurysms were treated by endovascular embolization with Guglielmi detachable coils. During the embolization procedure of the ICA bifurcation aneurysm, a coil strand detached in the sac had migrated into the I

For locally advanced intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma (ICC), the combination of cisplatin plus gemcitabine (CisGem) is the standard first-line treatment. However, the outcome remains unsatisfied with the median overall survival (OS) of 11.7 months. We aimed to compare the effect of CisGem regimen and hepatic arterial infusion chemotherapy (HAIC) with Folfox 4 for locally advanced ICC. 97 Locally advanced ICC patients treated by CisGem regimen or HAIC with Folfox 4 in our institution from 2017 to 2019 were studied as training group. 43 locally advanced ICCs receiving CisGem chemotherapy or HAIC

BACKGROUND: Over the last three decades, hepatic arterial infusion (HAI) chemotherapy combined with systemic therapy has been established as a treatment strategy for patients with unresectable liver metastases. Facilitating a HAI program outside the USA and Europe remains underutilized in regions, including Israel, and requires multidisciplinary collaboration. The purpose of this study is to describe the feasibility and early outcomes of the initiation of the first hepatic artery infusion program in Israel.

BACKGROUND: The development of systemic therapy, including targeted drugs and immune checkpoint inhibitors, has significantly improved the prognosis of patients with advanced unresectable hepatocellular carcinoma (uHCC). Hepatic arterial infusion chemotherapy (HAIC) has been gradually applied to the treatment of advanced uHCC, showing good potential as conversion therapy. We aimed to investigate the efficacy and safety of HAIC combined with camrelizumab and apatinib as conversion therapy for uHCC.
METHODS: This study was a single-arm exploratory trial (NCT05099848) in patients with uHCC. Elig

Hepatic failure from breast cancer liver metastases (BCLM) is a major cause of morbidity and mortality. We reviewed the treatment histories and outcomes of nine patients with heavily treated BCLM, who received hepatic arterial infusion (HAI) of floxuridine (FUDR)/dexamethasone (Dex) and systemic chemotherapy at our institution. Patients received a median of five (range 1-15) HAI treatments. There were seven (78%) objective responses. Four patients had grade 3 elevations in liver enzymes attributable to HAI. There were no treatment-related deaths. Median hepatic and extrahepatic time to progres
