We examined the prevalence of rubella antibodies in a representative sample of the Israeli population. Three thousand three hundred and twenty-six sera collected during 1997 and 1998, from an age-stratified general population sample were tested for specific IgG antibodies against rubella. The sero-positivity rates to rubella were higher among females as compared with males (89.1% versus 82.3%, respectively (p < 0.001). The West Nile Virus (WNV) outbreak in Israel in 2000 appeared after medical and climatic warning signs. Re-analysis of the epidemic from a new viewpoint, the regional impact of global warming, especially the worsening in the summers' heat conditions, is presented. CONTEXT: Premarital carrier matching is a form of genetic counselling in which two individuals are told, if both are carriers, that they have a 25% risk at each pregnancy of having a child affected by the disease for which they were tested. If only one individual is a carrier this information is not disclosed. This scheme is offered to a consanguineous Bedouin community characterised by high prevalence of genetic diseases and a religious ban on abortion.

Multiple erythematous papules accompanied by severe pruritus were observed in humans bitten by the mites (Acari) Pyemotes tritici (Newport) (Pyemotidae), Dermanyssus gallinae (De Geer) (Dermanyssidae), Ornithonyssus bacoti Hirst (Macronyssidae) and Androlaelaps casalis (Berlese) (Laelapidae). METHODS: Retrospective analysis of the clinicopathologic data and outcome of patients from four major hospitals in Israel in the last 20 years.

A multicenter, double-blind, randomized, controlled study of 203 Israeli patients with endoscopically proven duodenal ulcer is described. The study compares the efficacy (i.e., ulcer healing and relief of symptoms) and safety of 20 mg omeprazole once daily in the morning, with those of 300 mg ranitidine once daily at night. This research explores the relationship between post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), resulting from intense violence during the "Guardian of the Walls" operation in 2021, and economic decision-making. We surveyed civilians in Israel who experienced Gaza rocket attacks to understand the influence of PTSD on their financial decisions.
