Scabies is a common contagious ectoparasitosis. The association of scabies and leukocytoclastic vasculitis (LCV) is unclear, and only a few cases of scabies-related LCV have been documented. Here, we report a case of scabies complicated by LCV in an 86-year-old woman diagnosed with scabies and treated accordingly. Rosacea, a frequent chronic inflammatory disease of the adnexal structures, is associated with an increased number of demodex mites. In patients with immunosuppression, it can present in fulminant progressions like granulomatous rosacea. In this specific subgroup of patients, treatment is not only complicated by aggressive occurrences, but is also limited by possible drug interactions with immunosuppressive drugs. We present a case of a 66-year-old lung transplant recipient, who was successfully treated with oral metronidazole and ivermectin cream.

A 36-yr-old male captive siamang (Symphalangus syndactylus) was evaluated for mange in the form of generalized alopecia, flaky skin, and pruritus of 1 mo duration. Multiple skin scrapings and biopsies revealed high numbers of trombidiiform mites identified as Psorobia (formerly Psorergates) sp. near cercopitheci (Acarina: Psorergatidae) based on morphologic characteristics. Demodicidosis may present as pityriasis folliculitis, papulopustular lesions, rosacea-like eruptions, and granulomatous rosacea-like eruptions. We report a case of demodex granuloma presenting with recurrent granulomatous rosacea-like papules on the face in a middle-aged woman. The diagnosis of demodicidosis was made by finding extrafollicular mites in the perifollicular inflammatory infiltrate. The papules resolved after 3 weeks of systemic and topical metronidazole, and low-dose oral prednisolone therapy. In summary, demodex granuloma may be mistaken for granulomatous rosacea-like papules. A survey on pulmonary acariasis was carried out in the grain store and in the Chinese medicinal herb plant. Of 363 persons examined, 92(25.3%) were mites-positive in their sputum. 65 of them had symptoms and signs attributed to pulmonary acariasis, the incidence being 17.9%. A random sample of 200 Merino sheep owners was interviewed by telephone during April 1983 and asked questions relating to the prevalence of ovine dermatophilosis in their flocks, methods used for prevention and treatment of dermatophilosis, management strategies employed and the location and annual rainfall of each farm.
