Source contribution to atmospheric particulate matter (PM) has been exhaustively modelled. However, people spend most of their time indoors where this approach is less explored. This evidence worsens considering elders living in Elderly Care Centres, since they are more susceptible. Single crystals of a new oxide, La3Fe(MoO4)6, were grown from fluxes of oxide precursors, and a polycrystalline sample was also prepared by a standard solid state reaction. La3Fe(MoO4)6 crystallizes in the orthorhombic space group Pbca with unit cell parameters a = 19.3164(11), b = 10.4143(5) and c = 22.0594(12) Å. The hepatotoxic action of arsenic, when used as a therapeutic agent, has long been recognised. Data on liver involvement following chronic exposure to arsenic-contaminated water are scanty. The nature and degree of liver involvement are reported on the basis of hospital based studies in patients who consumed arsenic contaminated drinking water for one to 15 years. A biomonitoring study using domestic rabbits (Chinchilla) aimed at the exposure and impact risks assessment of emissions released into the ambient air from a mercury-recycling plant has been carried out. Neutron diffraction studies have demonstrated that the hydroxyl group oxygen of Ser92(F7) is hydrogen bonded to the proximal His93(48) N epsilon H proton in myoglobin (Mb) [Cheng, X., & Shoenborn, B. P. (1991) J. Mol. Biol. 220, 381-399]. In order to examine the importance of this hydrogen bond, Ser92 was replaced with Ala and Asp in human Mb. By comparing the optical, 1H-NMR, resonance Raman, and IR spectra of Mb(S92A) in several spin and oxidation states with those of wild-type Mb, it was found that the mutation causes a structural change on the heme proximal side but not on the distal side.

Twenty-two patients with steroid-induced osteoporosis were studied retrospectively to assess the effects on bone mass of fluoride therapy over 4 years. Thirteen of 19 patients with miscellaneous disorders and 2 with Cushing's syndrome received 1 g calcium/day, 50,000 IU vitamin D (D) weekly, and 40-60 mg/day sodium fluoride (F). Hepatic copper content, measured by neutron activation analysis, has been studied in 70 patients during a median observation period of 3 years.
