Maxillary sinus balloon lifting and deferred implantation of 50 osseointegrated implants: a prospective, observational, non-controlled study.

The aim of this study was to assess the effectiveness of minimally invasive antral membrane balloon elevation (MIAMBE). Twenty-seven patients with severe resorption of the posterior maxilla were treated by balloon catheter-assisted sinus lift procedure with deferred implant placement. Panoramic radiographs and computed tomography scans were obtained prior to surgery and at 6 months after surgery, before implantation. Data collected following surgery included inflammation, pain, bleeding, infection, and haematoma. Pain and inflammation were recorded using a six-point verbal rating scale (VRS).

Sinus membrane perforations and the incidence of complications: a retrospective study from a residency program.

OBJECTIVE: The purpose of this study is to evaluate sinus membrane perforations and the incidence of complications in a residency program. STUDY DESIGN: Data from 107 consecutive direct sinus augmentation procedures were reviewed retrospectively from 2008 to 2012. DISCUSSION: All perforations were repaired intraoperatively with the use of a collagen tape. Intraoperative membrane perforations were observed in 64 of 107 cases (59.8%). Of the perforations, 58 were less than 5 mm in diameter and 6 were 5 mm or greater in diameter. It was found that there were 6 cases (5.6%) that experienced post

Postoperative perforation of the Schneiderian membrane in maxillary sinus augmentation: a case report.

Perforation of the Schneiderian membrane constitutes a major intraoperative complication of maxillary sinus floor elevation with graft materials, but postoperative perforation of the sinus membrane is very rare. This case report demonstrates that conservative treatment involving drainage and the administration of systemic antibiotics can be used to successfully treat postoperative sinus membrane perforation with infection of the graft material.

Expert by Experience engagement in gambling reform: qualitative study of gamblers in the United Kingdom.

BACKGROUND: Implant rehabilitation has become one of the primary treatment options for both partial and total edentulism in contemporary dentistry. In the posterior maxilla, a challeng frequently arises from insufficient available bone volume; to overcome this limitation, sinus floor elevation (SFE) procedures are often necessary. Two main techniques are employed for this purpose: the lateral window approach and the transcrestal one. PURPOSE: to evaluate patient-reported outcome measures related to maxillary sinus augmentation and alternative options for the rehabilitation of atrophic posteri

Occult peri-implant oroantral fistulae: posterior maxillary peri-implantitis/sinusitis of zygomatic or dental implant origin. Treatment and prevention with bone morphogenetic protein-2/absorbable collagen sponge sinus grafting.

Sinus floor grafting with bone morphogenetic protein-2 for transsinus implant placement or as a salvage technique for sinus-involved peri-implantitis has been found to be successful. Transsinus implants for All-on-Four treatment, zygomatic implants including quad zygomatics, and infected transsinus implants underwent peri-implant grafting, which was found to seal off the sinus cavity from the oral cavity in an effort to prevent or treat sinusitis/peri-implantitis.
