There was a study of 422 in-patient subjects of the therapeutic profile. Endoscopy enabled to discover mucous coat erosions of the antral part of the stomach associated with Helicobacter pylori and absence of ulcer in the anamnesis in 8.7% of them (more frequently in women). As many as 81% of such patients belonged to patients with the ischemic heart disease. Erosive gastropathy is accompanied by the activity of the chronic inflammation response in the duodenum mucous coat that is most evident in IHD patients.

PURPOSE: Rothia dentocariosa is a common commensal in the oropharyngeal cavity but a rare human pathogen. A 48-year-old woman born in Pakistan was evaluated for dysphagia. Endoscopy showed a solitary ulcerative oesophageal lesion. Cultures were positive for mycobacterium tuberculosis. Additional imaging showed no other manifestations of tuberculosis. Oesophageal tuberculosis is a rare entity, especially as a primary manifestation defined as involvement of the oesophagus without signs of disseminated disease. Therefore, this case was classified as primary oesophageal tuberculosis.

We studied the content of collagen metabolites in patients with duodenal ulcer (blood plasma, urea, and samples of the duodenal mucous tunic and mouth fluid). We also defined the role of an affected collagen metabolism in the formation and cicatrization of duodenal ulcer; finally, we ascertained that the nature of the detected changes in different biological substrate is unidirectional.

Rare tropical skin diseases are seen more frequently in Western countries because of the increased popularity of visiting tropical regions. A 55-year-old white man developed a painless leg ulcer after traveling in Guatemala and Belize. A mycobacterium was cultured from a biopsy specimen and was identified as Mycobacterium immunogenum by 16S recombinant deoxyribonucleic acid sequence analysis. The leg ulcer healed after 6 months of compression therapy and hydrocolloids; a hypopigmented depressed scar remained.

Peptic ulcer disease (PUD) can present with many complications including inflammation, ulceration and perforation. Improvements in CT have enabled better imaging of the gastroduodenal area. Three cases of complicated PUD detected on CT are presented with a brief review of the current literature.

Trigeminal trophic ulceration is a rare clinical entity after an injury to the sensitive root of the trigeminal nerve, mostly due to therapy for trigeminal neuralgia.
