A nonperative method has been employed over a period of 11 years in the treatment of 570 patients with residual biliary duct lithiasis. A successful instrumental extraction was accomplished in 543 of these patients (95.3%). These extractions were performed via the transcholedochal and the transcholecystic routes, the latter being used both for choledochal and gallbladder stones. The high percentage of successes, the extremely few complications, and the good long-term results turn this method into a definitely useful adjunct to the conventional therapy for biliary pathology.

A prospective study was undertaken to define the clinical features, natural history and etiology of post-obstructive diuresis. Studied in detail were 8 patients with a massive diuresis after relief of urinary tract obstruction. We found that urea mediated osmotic diuresis, natriuresis owing to elimination of retained sodium from the obstructed phase, tubular defects in sodium reabsorption, renal unresponsiveness to antidiuretic hormone and iatrogenic factors may play varying roles in each individual diuresis. Overzealous fluid replacement should be avoided.

According to the conclusions of clinical studies, excretory urography and cystoscopy are of no value in managing the majority of women who have a history of recurrent urinary tract infection (UTI). OBJECTIVE: To assess the management and types of urologic complications in spinal cord injury (SCI) patients and to explore the risk factors for these complications.
METHODS: A total of 43 SCI patients with a median follow-up of 45 (range 40-50) years were included in this retrospective study. All medical charts were reviewed for demographics, urologic complications, and bladder management.
