CASE REPORT: We present the case of a newborn baby in whom we observed aniridia, congenital glaucoma and edematous corneas, without clearance of the cornea after glaucoma surgery, and in whom a keratoplasty was considered. The patient had no evidence of systemic diseases and no deletion of chromosome 11.
DISCUSSION: It is important to perform a thorough ophthalmological and systemic exploration in newborn patients with aniridia due to other diseases that can be associated with it. We present the unusual case in which aniridia, congenital glaucoma and white corneas coexisted in a newborn baby.…

This work concerns the development of a methodology suited to measure the resistance to oxidation of white wines by cyclic voltammetry. The voltammetric responses of several white wines of different origin and age were analyzed in the oxidation potential range (0.2-1.2 V vs SCE). Currents measured at fixed potentials were correlated to the concentration of ascorbic acid, SO2, and total phenolics. A forced degradation study was monitored by cyclic voltammetry; from plots of current versus time, the consumption rates of oxidizable species in wine were estimated.

A 30 year old woman with abnormal fetal presentation was scheduled for emergency cesarean section. The patient had been a known case of Wolff-Parkinson-White syndrome, and appeared exceedingly anxious. She was given diazepam 5 mg and sufentanil 15 microgram as premedication following which routine and conventional general anesthesia was administered. The perioperative course was uneventful, and both the patient and the child were discharged fully well on the 5th postoperative day.

Proinflammatory cytokines were reported to be implicated in the pathogenesis of perinatal white matter lesions. The authors document for the first time the in situ detection of interleukin-2 and interleukin-2 receptor (IL-2R) in these human white matter lesions. These results suggest that interleukin-2, reported to be toxic to oligodendrocytes and myelin, could play a role in the molecular cascade leading to white matter damage in periventricular leukomalacia.
