Indications for different variants of functionally sparing operations in carcinoma of the lung were determined from study of the long term results. Comparison of 5-year survival after pneumonectomy and lobectomy showed the adequacy of the latter in advancement of T1-2N0M0 tumor (39.7% and 37.0%). In T1-2N2M0, these values were 35.7% and 34.5%, respectively.
