BACKGROUND: Peritraumatic reactions during sexual assault are central to societal rape stereotypes and may play a role in post-trauma mental health. Nevertheless, existing research is limited. In this cross-sectional study, we explored a broad spectrum of emotional, cognitive, and behavioural peritraumatic reactions and investigated their associations with assault characteristics, sexual assault history, and symptoms of post-traumatic stress and depression/anxiety.

Carcinogenic chromium(VI) compounds require reduction for the induction of genotoxicity. In this work, we examined a spectrum of DNA damage produced in Cr(VI)-cysteine reactions at neutral pH. Cr(VI) reduction followed single-component kinetics and led to a significant oxidation of 2',7'-dichlorofluoroscein (DCFH). The presence of residual Fe and/or Cu resulted in an increased level of oxidation of DCFH, and the removal of adventitious metals required rigorous purification of cysteine. The widely quoted cross-allergy risk of 10% between penicillin and cephalosporins is a myth. Cephalothin, cephalexin, cefadroxil, and cefazolin confer an increased risk of allergic reaction among patients with penicillin allergy. A 44-year-old woman was admitted with generalized lymphadenopathy, which was diagnosed as angioimmunoblastic T-cell lymphoma (AITL). The patient showed autoimmune hemolytic anemia (AIHA), polyclonal hypergammaglobulinemia and a high antinuclear antibody titer. Basement membrane (type IV) collagens were extracted from a mouse tumour with acetic acid and from human placenta after limited enzymatic digestion. Antisera were produced against both collagens in rabbits and guinea-pigs and examined by various assays. We measured the cross section and response functions for the quasielastic 16O(e,e'p) reaction for missing energies 25< or =E(m)< or =120 MeV at missing momenta P(m)< or =340 MeV/c. For 25<E(m)<50 MeV and P(m) approximately 60 MeV/c, the reaction is dominated by a single 1s(1/2) proton knockout. At larger P(m), the single-particle aspects are increasingly masked by more complicated processes. A total of 116 cows from 4 dairy herds in California were used to determine the sensitivity and specificity of extracellular antigen of Nocardia astero des for possible detection of bovine mastitis caused by N asteroides and N caviae. Three different positive criteria were used. These criteria gave different sensitivity and specificity to the skin test.
