Distal ureteral stump syndrome in an adult female following childhood duplex system surgery.

Distal Ureteral Stump Syndrome is a condition causing recurrent urinary tract infections due to a retained ureteral stump post-ureterectomy. We present a 54-year-old female with recurrent urinary tract infections in adulthood following a childhood surgery for a duplex renal collecting system. Cystoscopy revealed mucus and debris within the retained ureteral stump, suspected to be the source of recurrent infections. Stump excision and non-refluxing reimplantation, due to proximity to the functional ureter, resulted in resolution of recurrent infections. This case highlights the need consider ad…

Haematuria, Acute Urinary Retention, and Hydronephrosis Due to a Ureteral Polyp: A Case Report and Literature Review.

Ureteral fibroepithelial polyps are quite rare in acute urology emergencies, and their management typically relies on an evidence-based approach. This report describes a unique case involving a 49-year-old woman who presented with flank pain, bleeding, left-sided hydronephrosis, and acute urinary retention. The diagnostic process involved CT scans, catheter insertion, and cystoscopy-leading to the removal of a large foreign body, which was confirmed as an autolysed infarcted ureteral polyp on histology. No recurrence or kidney obstruction was observed at follow-up. We have included a supplemen…

Urethral Duplication Mimicking an Interlabial Cyst in a Girl: A Diagnostic Challenge.

Urethral duplication is a rare urogenital anomaly, especially in females. We present the case of a preterm female with various congenital anomalies, hydrocolpos, and a persistent interlabial cyst, later found to be secondary to urethral duplication. At age 2, cystoscopy and VCUG confirmed a duplicated urethral tract. Surgical resection of the accessory urethra and genitoplasty were performed successfully. Postoperative recovery was uneventful, with excellent cosmetic and functional outcomes at follow-up. This case highlights urethral duplication as a rare but possible differential diagnosis fo…

A Female With Urinary Bladder Leiomyoma: A Case Report.

Bladder leiomyoma is a rare benign tumor that can be found in different bladder parts. Leiomyomas can be investigated through a computed tomography (CT) scan or magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), along with cystoscopy, and surgical intervention is considered the standard treatment for this type of cancer. Our case is a 36-year-old female who presented to a urology clinic with lower abdominal pain and lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS) for three months. The patient was investigated using MRI and was found to have intramural bladder leiomyoma, which was treated with partial cystectomy with bladd…

Endourology treatment of giant ureteral stone: Distal ureteral stone lithotripsy with nephroscope and shockpulse.

There has been no article that publish the utilization of nephroscope to lithotripsy in removing giant distal ureteral stone. Here we reported a case of large multiple distal ureteral stones treated using nephroscope and litotripsy with shockpulse in a 53-year-old woman. The biggest stone measuring 40 × 35 mm and 5 × 5 mm for the smallest one. After initial cystoscopy and ureteric dilatation, nephroscope 24fr was inserted into the distal ureter. DJ stent was applied. No residual stone and complication were found. After four weeks the stent was removed and the ureteral lumen was normal in size.

Primary localised bladder amyloidosis - A case report with review of the literature.

Primary bladder amyloidosis, a mimicker of bladder malignancy, is a rare but important differential diagnosis for patients presenting with haematuria. We report the case of a 58-year-old man who initially presented with macroscopic haematuria and irritative urinary tract symptoms. There was no radiological evidence of a bladder mass lesion, but cystoscopy revealed an erythematous papillary lesion in the posterior bladder wall concerning for bladder malignancy. Histology demonstrated primary bladder amyloidosis, which was completely excised intraoperatively. He is undergoing regular cystoscopic…

Ultrasonographic diagnosis of a hair foreign body in the urinary bladder of a dog.

A 13-year-old male neutered mixed-breed dog with a history of gallbladder mucocele and urolithiasis was evaluated by ultrasound. Two hyperechoic, linear foreign bodies with no distal acoustic shadowing were detected in the urinary bladder and urethra. Following the ultrasound examination, the patient underwent cystoscopy, and two single hairs were found and successfully retrieved. Considering that urinary bladder foreign bodies may be a source for urinary tract infection and can act as a nidus for urocystolith formation, removal is recommended. This is the first published report describing ult…

Minimally invasive transurethral laser incision for management of ectopic ureter orifice stenosis in adult patient.

The aim of this report is to present our experience of performing transurethral laser incision for management of ectopic ureter orifice stenosis in adult patient. A 61-year-old male was presented with right flank pain. Computed tomography urography showed right complete double collecting system, upper moiety hydroureteronephrosis, and parenchymal thinning of the upper moiety. Cystoscopy showed right ectopic ureter orifice on the prostatic part of the urethra. Transurethral laser incision was performed at the 12 o'clock position of the stenotic orifice with Thulium laser. This report showed tha…

Percutaneous Biopsy Tract Seeding in a Patient with Muscle-invasive Bladder Cancer.

Percutaneous biopsy can be used for tissue diagnosis of bladder tumors when cystoscopy with transurethral resection is not possible. The largest known case series includes 15 patients with no reported complications and good concordance with surgical pathology. However, concern remains regarding exposure of nonurothelial surfaces to tumor cells, as there are rare documented cases of tumor seeding along nephrostomy and biopsy tracts in upper tract urothelial carcinoma (UC). We present the first documented human case of bladder cancer involvement of the omentum and peritoneum along a biopsy tract…

Enterovesical fistula secondary to transitional cell carcinoma of the bladder in a 20 years old patient: A rare entity.

Bladder cancers are not very common in young people under 20 years, especially with an atypical presentation such as faecaluria due to enterovesical fistula. This report describes the case of a 20 years old man who was diagnosed with a mass involving the small intestine and bladder during the course of investigations for faecaluria and abdominal pain. Histopathological examination of the biopsies during cystoscopy revealed: muscle invasive transitional cell carcinoma, while the computerized tomography scan had confirmed the enterovesical fistula. The patient was traited by Radical cystectomy w…

Case report: Urogenital myiasis in an adult male.

Urogenital Myiasis is rarely documented in developed countries, so epidemiological data are limited and often associated with travel to endemic regions. We report a Case of urogenital myiasis, unassociated with travel, in a 31 year old male. The patient presented to the emergency department after passing a larval fly during micturition. Pathologic examination of the initial urine sample confirmed the presence of living fly larvae and further evaluation was arranged with the urology department. The patient had no further episodes, and resolution was confirmed via urinalysis and cystoscopy. Seve…

Alum irrigation for the treatment of adenovirus induced hemorrhagic cystitis in a kidney transplant recipient.

Adenovirus is a rare cause of hemorrhagic cystitis in the transplant population. We present a case of a forty-one-year-old man with end-stage renal disease who underwent living unrelated donor kidney transplant in 2016. In 2018 he presented with acute onset gross hematuria and dysuria, with serologic testing and immunohistochemical stains of biopsy specimens positive for adenovirus. He was treated with reduction in immunosuppression, cystoscopy with evacuation of clots, and alum bladder irrigation. His hematuria resolved almost immediately with no recurrence to date. This case demonstrates the…

Bilateral Ureteral Stent Removal after 15 Years: A Case Report.

We present the first reported case of a patient with a forgotten ureteral stent. A 68-year-old woman had undergone radical hysterectomy for cervical cancer in 1997, at which time bilateral ureteral stents were placed. She was admitted to our hospital with stranguria, dysuria, and lower back pain of 10 days duration. Preoperative radiologic evaluation revealed the presence of ureteral stents, which had been in place since 1997. With the patient under general anesthesia, the bilateral stents were removed by urethral cystoscopy. No stone formation was noted. The procedure was easy and fast, and n…

A bulbar artery pseudoaneurysm following traumatic urethral catheterization.

Traumatic urethral catheterization may result in a number of serious complications. A rare occurrence is the development of a urethral pseudoaneurysm. We report the case of a 13-year-old male who required placement of a Foley catheter for an orthopedic surgical procedure. The Foley was misplaced in the bulbourethra, resulting in the development of a bulbar artery pseudoaneurysm. Profuse bleeding via the urethra was noted after removal of the catheter, and the patient experienced severe intermittent hematuria during the postoperative period. Cystoscopy revealed a pulsatile mass within the bulbo…
