A case of retinoblastoma with uncommon features is reported, aiming at improving follow-up. In 1993, SJMMF, 9-month-old white boy, presented a squint in the left eye. A retinal tumor was detected. The patient had a family history of retinoblastoma. Enucleation was performed and retinoblastoma was proved. The patient underwent examination for staging, all were normal. The fellow eye remained normal for 10 years. During routine examination the retina map revealed three retinoblastoma white lesions in the nasal retina. A 37-year-old woman had a mass in her left ocular globe. Uveal melanoma was suspected and enucleation was performed. Microscopically, the lesion proved to be a typical case of mesectodermal leiomyoma of the ciliary body. PURPOSE: To assess the impact of varying levels of choroidal invasion on survival from retinoblastoma.
METHODS: A retrospective nationwide analysis of retinoblastoma cases diagnosed between 2004-2016 using the Surveillance, Epidemiology, and End Results database was conducted. Overall survival, cause-specific survival, and all-cause mortality risk were assessed as primary outcomes.

Melanocytoma is a rare intraocular tumor. There are some reports in the literature dealing with primary melanocytomas of the choroid and ciliary body. It is believed that most of these tumors are clinically diagnosed as nevi or melanoma, and are followed up or treated without surgical resection, respectively. PURPOSE: To characterize inherent light scattering in the C57BL/6 mouse lens.
METHODS: Lenses from 20 6-week-old female C57BL/6 mice were extracted from freshly enucleated globes and microsurgically cleaned of remnants of the ciliary body. Lens light scattering was measured quantitatively with a light dissemination meter (LDM). Morphological properties of the mouse lenses were documented using grid- and dark-field illumination photography. Analysis of variance was performed to establish variance for animals, variance between left and right eyes and variance for measurements.

INTRODUCTION: Mesectodermal leiomyoma of the ciliary body is a benign rare tumor that rarely presents acutely with a complicated clinical course.
PRESENTATION OF CASE: We are reporting a 39-year-old healthy female who presented with subacute blurred vision in her right eye secondary to a ciliary body mass. Initial fine needle aspiration biopsy ruled out a melanoma but the patient meanwhile experienced rapid complicated growth of the mass with vision loss, for which her right globe was eventually enucleated. The tumor was diagnosed histopathologically to be mesectodermal leiomyoma.

PURPOSE: To determine whether apoptosis is involved in retinal degeneration induced by intravitreal implantation of 5 iron particles in rat eyes.
METHODS: Autoclaved iron particles were implanted in the vitreous cavities of the experimental eyes. Glass chips were implanted in the control eyes. The experimental eyes were enucleated at various time intervals from days 1 to 15. Retinal degeneration was examined using the TdT-mediated, dUTP-biotin nick-end labeling (TUNEL) method. Electrophoresis on agarose gel was used to detect internucleosomal DNA fragmentation.
