METHODS: Searches were completed across six databases (Medline, PsycINFO, WoS, LILACS, ProQUEST, and CINAHL). Studies were required to capture attitudes and/or knowledge of ADRD or brain health among US-based Latino adults who were not cognitivel

Changing medication-related beliefs: A systematic review and meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials.

OBJECTIVE: Medication-related beliefs, for example, beliefs that medicines are unnecessary or that side effects are likely, can influence medication behaviors and experiences, potentially impacting quality of life and mortality. At times, it may be useful to change medication-related beliefs, for example, to reduce patients' concerns about side effects when extensive evidence suggests side effects are rare. Currently we do not know the most effective methods to address medication beliefs. METHOD: Systematic review and meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials that measured medication-rela

To date, no published studies have assessed the knowledge, attitudes, and practices of the key implementers of the national deworming program conducted at village and school level in Rwanda. This study aimed to assess key stakeholders' knowledge, attitudes, practices, and perspectives about the decentralized nationa

Physiotherapists' perceptions on using a multidimensional clinical reasoning form during psychologically informed training for low back pain.

PURPOSE: Building clinical reasoning skills is important to effectively implement psychologically informed practice. We developed a multidimensional clinical reasoning form (CRF) to be used by physiotherapists in a psychologically informed practice training programme for low back pain. In this paper we describe the development of the CRF, how the CRF was used in the training, and present an evaluation of physiotherapists' perceptions of the CRF. METHODS: Qualitative semi-structured interviews were conducted with ten physiotherapists purposively sampled in primary care. Data were gathered thro

Sun Exposure and Photoprotection: Habits, Knowledge and Attitudes Among Elite Kitesurfers.

Kitesurfing is one of many water sports that are growing in popularity throughout the world. In such sports, practitioners are exposed not only to direct sunlight but also to reflection from the water surface, which aggravates the impact of solar radiation on the skin. This study sought to analyse the photoprotection and photoexposure habits and knowledge of elite kitesurfers and their beliefs and attitudes in this respect. A sample of convenience of 72 male kitesurfers completed a validated questionnaire in full. By Fitzpatrick phototype, the most common classes were types I and II (69.4%). O

Investigating the dietary knowledge, attitudes, and beliefs of Australian patients with cancer.

BACKGROUND: There is evidence linking diet to the risk of developing cancer and preventing recurrence, but the therapeutic value of food in treating cancer remains unclear. Therefore, guidelines for well-nourished patients with cancer are based on general healthy eating recommendations. This study aims to describe patients' knowledge, attitudes, and beliefs towards the role of diet and cancer. METHODS: A cross-sectional survey was undertaken between July 2016 and January 2017. Patients being reviewed by Medical Oncology at a tertiary cancer service were invited to complete a questionnaire. R

Changing knowledge and attitudes about childhood fever: testing a video instruction before its application in a health app.

A Vignettes-Based Exploration of Attitudes of Parents Toward Reporting of Child Sexual Abuse in Ghana.

Reporting child sexual abuse (CSA) to law enforcement institutions is the ideal child protection imperative. The role of parents in this process is unquestionably profound. Yet, there is limited evidence on parental perspectives on reporting CSA to law enforcement agencies in developing country contexts. We apply vignettes to describe the views of parents about reporting CSA perpetrated by "family members, schoolteachers, and strangers." Data was collected from 89 parents from four culturally diverse regions of Ghana. A systematic inductive approach was used to determine patterns and similarit

Implementation of the kidney team at home intervention: Evaluating generalizability, implementation process, and effects.

Research has shown that a home-based educational intervention for patients with chronic kidney disease results in better knowledge and communication, and more living donor kidney transplantations (LDKT). Implementation research in the field of renal care is almost nonexistent. The aims of this study were (1) to demonstrate generalizability, (2) evaluate the implementation process, and (3) to assess the relationship of intervention effects on LDKT-activity. Eight hospitals participated in the project. Patients eligible for all kidney replacement therapies (KRT) were invited to participate. Effe

Does selectively endorsing different approaches to treating mental illness affect lay beliefs about the cause and course of mental illness?

The current paper reports three experimental studies that investigate how selectively emphasising different treatment approaches (biological, psychological or social) for mental health difficulties affects lay beliefs about those illnesses. Online experimental vignettes exposed participants to different treatment narratives for a clinical case of Major Depressive Disorder (Study 1; n=164), Generalized Anxiety Disorder (Study 2; n=173) and Schizophrenia (Study 3, n=170). Measures of causal attributions and illness perceptions assessed effects on beliefs about the causes and course of the illnes
