A woman with a huge leiomyosarcoma of the duodenum that had invaded the pancreas and transverse colon is living and well 10 years after pancreaticoduodenectomy combined with resection of the transverse colon. Malignant potential of the tumor was determined by the mitotic rate and nuclear deoxyribonucleic acid content. The mass exceeded 10 cm yet was characterized by low mitotic activity and a near-diploid pattern. The long survival is attributed to the extensive surgery and low-grade malignancy of the tumor.

Leiomyosarcoma of the large intestine, excluding the rectum, is a rare lesion and only 58 cases have been previously reported. Significant uptake of radioactivity of gallium-67 to the tumor has not been reported and this report may be the first case. Although preoperative diagnosis is considered to be difficult, barium enema study and colonofiberscopy disclosed the findings suggesting extracolic growth of the tumor in our case, which are thought to be characteristics of nonepithelial tumors. Gallium-67 citrate scanning may be useful for confirming the diagnosis.

A rare case of advanced pleomorphic leiomyosarcoma of forearm with axillary lymph node metastasis in a young adult, diagnosed with the aid of immunohistochemistry and electron microscopic examinations together with a review of the literature are reported. The primary tumor involved the extensor and flexor aspect of forearm without bone involvement and metastasized to the axillary lymph nodes. Patient showed poor treatment outcome with adjuvant chemoradiotherapy following incomplete surgery.

We report on a man with bulky leiomyosarcoma occupying the entire pelvic cavity that was treated by pelvic exenteration. A urinary reservoir was constructed using a detubularized segment of sigmoid colon. The appendix was tunneled into the taenia to form a continent catheterizable stoma using the Mitrofanoff principle.
