Patients with soft tissue tumors of the lower extremities are at greater risk to develop postoperative disruption of lymphatic vessels. Currently, there is no widely effective cure for lymphatic dysfunction. Therefore, the best strategy is to prevent it and reconstruct efficient drainage as soon as the original pathway is damaged. CASE: A 59-year-old woman with a history of left knee pain exacerbated by lymphatic filariasis underwent successful total knee replacement (TKR) for advanced osteoarthritis. Postoperatively, diligent adherence to compression bandaging, physiotherapy, and lymphatic flow promotion resulted in no lymphedema progression. PURPOSE: To describe a patient with Meige syndrome in whom we observed the coexistence of hereditary lymphedema of the lower legs, conjunctival edema and alopecia of the lateral third of the eyebrows.
METHODS: Case report.
RESULTS: Histological examination of the conjunctival and skin specimens showed dermal edema and a slight reduction in the number of severely ectatic lymphatics in the reticular dermis. The vessel were identified as lymphatics on the basis of immunohistochemical evidence of discontinuity and/or absence of basement membrane.
CONCLUSIONS: Clinical and histological findings

Vezf1 is an early development gene that encodes a zinc finger transcription factor. PURPOSE: In prostate cancer, the spread of cancer to the lymph nodes is often determined by sampling lymph nodes from the obturator region. Historical findings from this area are often used as the basis for calculating the risk of lymph node metastasis in patients with prostate cancer.
