The association of cutaneous and extracutaneous abnormalities is a common phenomenon, widely described in a variety of genetic syndromes. Congenital melanocytic nevi (CMN) are nevi that are present at birth or arise within the first few weeks of life. They are often found on the trunk, head and neck and extremities. We report herein an unusual presentation of a CMN as a cerebriform tumour presenting as secondary cutis verticis gyrata on the scalp of an 18-year-old Filipino male.

The co-occurrence of blue rubber bleb nevus syndrome (BRBNS) and ventricular septal defects is rare. Here we present a case of BRBNS in a 15-year-old boy who was born with multiple cavernous hemangiomas and a ventricular septal defect. Examinations revealed the presence of hemangioma lesions in the subcutaneous and mucosal tissues as well as in the cerebrum, nasopharynx, tongue, esophagus, gastric body, sigmoid colon and adrenal gland. Combined imaging modalities played an important role in the diagnosis of hemangioma lesions.

Halo congenital melanocytic nevus (CMN) associated with vitiligo is rare, especially with regard to CMN excision. Only two reports of excision of halo CMN following repigmentation of vitiligo are found in the literature. We present a case of a girl with halo CMN and periorbital vitiligo. The halo CMN was excised and followed by spontaneous improvement of vitiligo. The result suggests excision of the inciting lesion may be a promising way to control vitiligo.

Blue rubber bleb nevus syndrome is a rare vascular disorder characterized by cavernous angiomas of skin and other organs including the gastrointestinal tract. The central nervous system involvement is seldom reported, and neurological symptoms at onset in adulthood are extremely rare. Here, we describe a case of 82-year-old patient presenting multiple skin haemangiomas for some years, who was admitted for a brain hemorrhage. The MRI demonstrated the presence of multiple cavernous angiomas within the cerebral tissue.

Blue rubber bleb nevus syndrome is a rare clinical entity characterized by the formation of multiple blue or purplish rubbery cavernous hemangiomas on the skin and other epithelial surfaces. We present a 5-month-old girl with one localized plaque in a bandlike distribution on the left wrist since birth. Localized hyperhidrosis was also noted. Histopathologic examination of the lesion showed typical findings of mucinous eccrine nevus. Our report may serve to alert dermatologists to consider this entity in congenital lesions.

CLINICAL PRESENTATION: A 75-year-old woman developed nevus of Ota in the first and second divisions of the right trigeminal nerve territory, which had been treated with a skin graft 40 years earlier. She noticed right exophthalmos but left it untreated for 2 years and then became comatose owing to orbital and intracranial tumors, the latter manifesting with hemorrhage.
