A 72-year-old woman was referred to our hospital with the diagnosis of peritonitis due to the rupture of a huge abdominal cystic tumor, 27 cm in diameter. Abdominal computed tomography 14 years before revealed the tumor, which was 18 cm in diameter. She had undergone no examinations or treatment in the interim. One of the main reasons to resect choledochal cyst (CC) is to prevent malignant transformation. After resection of CC, the remnant intrapancreatic bile duct is no longer exposed to the enzymatic insult from pancreatic juice activated by the bile. Lesser saphenous vein grafts have become an important element in limb salvage surgery. Their location frequently dictates that the graft be translocated for use. PURPOSE: To evaluate the utility of submillimeter resolution MR imaging for direct depiction of functional soft-tissue components of the intraosseous endolymphatic duct and sac in healthy subjects and in patients with Menière disease.
METHODS: Axial MR images were acquired of 14 patients with Menière disease and 14 healthy volunteers at 1.5 T with a short-echo-time steady-state 3-D gradient-echo sequence. Seven volunteers and eight patients were also studied with a T1-weighted 3-D spoiled gradient-echo sequence. T1/T2 relaxation times were estimated from studies with multiple flip angles.

In 1964, I started using vertical mammaplasty without a submammary scar for all breast reductions. This technique was based on the following principles: a central wedge resection, an upper pedicle for the areola, no undermining, and a vertical scar to finish off. Evidence is presented showing that the brain cells of patients with subacute sclerosing panencephalitis (SSPE) contain mutant measles (MV) genomes having the characteristics of 5' copy-back defective interfering (DI) RNAs. Using a polymerase chain reaction-based amplification specific for copy-back DIs, abundant, discrete cDNAs representing different-sized MV defective RNA species were generated from each SSPE brain.
