BACKGROUND: The wearing of respiratory protective devices (RPDs) correctly and continually in situations where people are at risk of respiratory infections is crucial for infection prevention. Certain people are poorly compliant with RPDs due to RPD-related annoyance, including respiratory discomfort. We hypothesized that individuals vulnerable to panic attacks are included in this group. No published studies on this topic are available. The evidence for our hypothesis was reviewed in this study as a starting point for future research.

INTRODUCTION: Duchenne muscular dystrophy(DMD) shows motor and respiratory impairment.
METHODS: 19 DMD patients (DMDG) (nine ambulatory and 10 non-ambulatory) were evaluated through motor function measure (MFM), 6-minute walk test (6MWT), respiratory muscle strength, cough peak flow, spirometry and volumetric capnography (VCap) tools. Control group that performed spirometry and VCap (CG1-n = 17) were different from those that performed the 6MWT (CG2-n = 8).

Mitochondrial cristae are essential for respiration, yet the molecular basis of how the high curvature of these membrane folds is maintained remains unclear. Using structure prediction tools and multiscale simulations, we examined the role of the MIC10 subcomplex of the mitochondrial contact site and cristae organizing system (MICOS). We have identified a cluster of mitochondrial tRNA(Leu[UUR]), mutations in a severe case of infantile myopathy. There were A to G transitions found at mtDNA positions 3259, 3261, 3266 and 3268. These point mutations change the anticodon arm and the anticodon UAA, normally found in tRNA(Leu[UUR]), to UGA which is the one of the tRNAs(Ser[UCN]). This is the first anticodon alteration described in this tRNA. Another swap straight to the anticodon of tRNA(Pro) alone was recently described in a less severe case.
