Quantifying the impact of clothing thermal and evaporation resistance is essential to providing representative boundary conditions for physiological modeling. In many models, sweat is assumed to drip off the skin surface to the environment and is not captured in clothing. Our understanding of pilonidal sinus disease (PSD) is based on a paper published 29 years ago by Karydakis. Since then, surgeons have been taught that hair more easily penetrates wet skin, leading to the assumption that sweating promotes PSD. This postulate, however, has never been proven. AIM: This study aimed to analyze sweat rate, water percentage alteration, and temperature variation during kendo practice in order to relate the thermal stress induced by such sports and draw recommendations for its secure practice.

BACKGROUND: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the efficacy and tolerability of aluminium chloride gel for treatment of axillary hyperhidrosis.
PATIENTS AND METHODS: A total of 20 patients aged 22-38 (mean age: 26.9+/-4.3) with idiopathic axillary hyperhidrosis were included and treated with an antiperspirant (Sweat-off, Sweat-off GmbH, Hügelsheim). Although the etiology of foul genital odor is multifactorial, an important cause is sweat secretion and decomposition of sweat components by bacteria. Oculocephalic sympathetic functions were assessed in five patients with posttraumatic headaches using the thermoregulatory sweat test and biochemical pupillary responses. A 40-year-old male developed complete absence of sweating except for slight sweating in the axillar region. Histopathologic examination of the skin revealed lymphocytes infiltration around the sweat glands and coarse and irregular arrangement of the eccrine glands. Immunohistochemical staining using anti-CD3, CD4, and CD8 antibodies revealed that CD3 positive cells were dominant in the lesion. After intensive glucocorticoid treatment, generalized sweating was almost completely recovered.

Liposuction or its modifications have become accepted therapy for hyperhidrosis. During the nearly 20 years since its introduction, the actual anatomic removal of sweat glands has not been investigated. In this study, three patients underwent axillary liposuction and histologic examination of the aspirates. Apocrine sweat glands embedded in adipose tissue were found throughout the crosscuts. These results prove that the therapeutic effects are at least partially attributable to removal of glandular tissue.

BACKGROUND: Sweat gland neoplasms are rare neoplasms with less known dermoscopic features.
OBSERVATIONS: By applying dermoscopy, we identified some common vascular features that have been defined for amelanotic melanoma such as hairpin vessels, dotted vessels, linear irregular vessels, glomerular vessels, and milky-red areas.
CONCLUSION: Polymorphic vascular structures can also be seen in eccrine neoplasms. Further evaluations should be done to differentiate and identify the common dermoscopic features of other sweat gland tumors.

Cutaneous lesions in Mediterranean visceral leishmaniasis (VL) are very unusual, except for the presence of Leishmania organisms in cutaneous Kaposi's sarcoma in patients with acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS). We have identified two unusual cutaneous histological features of VL in three patients with AIDS not described previously; two had "silent leishmaniasis," and in the third, Leishmania organisms were present in sweat ducts, suggesting transepithelial elimination through eccrine sweat glands and/or eccrine epithelial tropism.
