Statistical methods based on historical data can optimize PACU staffing to achieve the least possible labor cost at a given service level. PURPOSE: To avoid the cost and complications of total parenteral nutrition (TPN), this study was initiated to determine the feasibility of administrating nasogastric tube feedings in children receiving intensive chemotherapy (CTX) or bone marrow transplantation (BMT).

Clinic records of 37 manipulations in 767 consecutive primary total knee arthroplasties (TKAs) were analyzed to identify any predictors of manipulation outcome. Between 1983 and 1988, 33 (21 men, 12 women) patients were treated for blunt diaphragmatic injuries following motor-vehicle (90%) or auto-pedestrian (10%) accidents at the Presley Trauma Center. The prevalence of bovine viral diarrhea virus (BVDV) infections was determined in a group of stocker calves suffering from acute respiratory disease. The calves were assembled after purchase from Tennessee auctions and transported to western Texas. Of the 120 calves, 105 (87.5%) were treated for respiratory disease.
