We examined the usefulness of allergen housedust-6 measurement in 44 patients (22 males and 22 females) with atopic dermatitis. The positivity for each of housedust HD-2 and HD-6 and that for each of D-1 and D-2 was well correlated in more than 90% of the patients (correlation coefficient > 0.85). PURPOSE OF REVIEW: This article presents an update on the clinical pharmacology, mechanisms of action, and safety of second generation antihistamines (SGAHs).
RECENT FINDINGS: Recent research has shown the efficacy and good tolerance of SGAHs supporting its indication as first line medications for the treatment of allergic rhinoconjunctivitis and urticaria.
SUMMARY: The information contained in this review is relevant for the correct utilization of SGAHs by practicing physicians who take care of these highly prevalent clinical disorders.

Plant keepers take regular care of green plants in public buildings and offices. One of the most common green plants in Scandinavia is weeping fig (Ficus benjamina). We have previously reported on two plant keepers sensitized to this plant, one had asthma and the other allergic rhinitis. We now report a study of four plant-leasing firms employing 60 plant keepers and 24 less exposed.
