Inflammatory cloacogenic polyp is a rare lesion arising in the anal transitional zone. It is usually benign, but rare cases of malignant transformation are known. It is most commonly seen in the adult population from the fourth to the sixth decade of life, but it can be found among children and adolescents as well. The most common clinical symptoms include rectal bleeding and altered bowel habits, although some patients may be asymptomatic. We report a case of autoimmune pancreatitis involving the colonic mucosa. Although serum level of IgG4 was normal, computed tomography and endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography showed diffuse enlargement of the pancreas and irregular narrowing of the pancreatic ducts, respectively. Sulfhemoglobinemia (SHb) is an uncommon cause of cyanosis that is predominantly drug-induced in adults. We report an unusual case of sodium sulfate-induced sulfhemoglobinemia in a 61-year-old woman after surgical polypectomy. Fractional hemoglobin derivates were assayed by spectrophotometry and high-performance liquid chromatography. The SHb ratio was 8.6% in the first sample and 3.77% a month later measured by spectrophotometry. Hyperplastic polyps of the colon are the most common type of benign colonic polyp. Rarely, these polyps may show misplaced epithelium within the submucosa, thereby simulating an adenoma with pseudoinvasion or even an adenocarcinoma. Duodenojejunal intussusception is a rare pediatric emergency. A case of duodenojejunal intussusception secondary to hamartomatous polyps of the second portion of duodenum in a 10-month-old boy is reported. Surgical excision of the polyps and reduction of the intussusception were performed. Pathologic examination found hamartomatous polyps. This is the third case report of children in literature, but this is the first case of a child with intussusception surrounding the ampulla of Vater and a successful excision performed without damaging the ampulla of Vater.

Cowden's disease is a well-described clinical syndrome, the primary symptoms of which are orocutaneous hamartomas and disseminated gastrointestinal polyposis. In general, the gastrointestinal polyps are benign, and the incidence of malignant transformation is believed to be low. We report a rare case of an isolated inverted Meckel's diverticulum presenting with acute gastrointestinal hemorrhage. The radiographic appearances simulated a pedunculated small bowel polyp. Two patients who had undergone proctocolectomy for ulcerative colitis developed lesions in their ileal stoma that appeared to be inflammatory polyps morphologically similar to those encountered in the large intestine of ulcerative colitis patients. Double contrast enema and endoscopy are very important in the diagnosis of adenomas and early cancer of the colon and rectum. These exams can not only detect the presence, but also suggest the histologic diagnosis, of polypoid lesions of the colon. We report three patients, ages 5 years, 3 years, and 4 days, with umbilical polyps. In the third child the polyp was associated with an umbilical enteric fistula. An umbilical polyp is the result of incomplete closure of the omphalomesenteric duct and becomes apparent after the umbilical cord is detached. It is a reddish tumor of a few millimeters; it seldom bleeds or is exudative. We consider it important to study every case in detail in order to exclude possible underlying embryologic anomalies such as Meckel's diverticulum and umbilical enteric fistula.

Twenty-four cases of duodenal adenomas which did not originate at the ampulla of Vater are discussed. The radiographic and clinical features of these lesions are presented together with a review of 120 cases previously reported in the literature. The role of barium studies and endoscopy in the evaluation of these adenomas is emphasized. A diameter of more than 5 cm represents a criterion favoring malignant degeneration of such non-Vaterian adenomas.

A patient with long-standing, nonspecific abdominal symptoms had a barium enema showing a single pedunculated polyp. This was removed by colonoscopic polypectomy and found to be an inflammatory polyp associated with Schistosoma mansoni infection. We review the relationship and significance of schistosomiasis to colonic polyps.
