BACKGROUND: A commercial biotyping system (Taxa Profile™, Merlin Diagnostika) testing the metabolization of various substrates by bacteria was used to determine if a set of phenotypic features will allow the identification of members of the genus Brucella and their differentiation into species and biovars.

The cyanogenic glycosides belong to the products of secondary metabolism, to the natural products of plants. These compounds are composed of an alpha-hydroxynitrile type aglycone and of a sugar moiety (mostly D-glucose). Sixty-five patients with suspected or proven pulmonary malignancy were examined with [67Ga]citrate and [99mTc]glucoheptonate ([99mTc]GH) scintigraphy. Parathyroidectomy was carried out in 26 patients over a 14-year period. Excellent results were obtained in patients with severe hyperparathyroidism. Vascular calcification, hypercalcaemia and pruritus did not justify surgery unless associated with unequivocal hyperparathyroidism. 13 patients required intravenous calcium infusion for up to 2 weeks to control post-operative hypocalcaemia. A series of new carbohydrate-based sulphonamide derivatives were designed, synthesised by employing the so-call 'sugar-tail' approach. The compounds were evaluated in vitro against a panel of CAs. In this article, the changes in carbon, nitrogen components, and humic substances during organic-inorganic aerobic co-composting, with adding biochar as an additive or not, were studied. In this work, the effects of selenium (Se) on the nutritional quality of tomato fruit were investigated. The catalytic hydrotreatment of humins, which are the solid byproducts from the conversion of C6 sugars (glucose, fructose) into 5-hydroxymethylfurfural (HMF) and levulinic acid (LA), by using supported ruthenium catalysts has been investigated.
