Pain, Emotional Allodynia, and Relational Load (PEARL): Protocol of a Multicenter Observational Case-Control Study Validating the Emotional Allodynia Questionnaire in Fibromyalgia.

Background: The International Association for the Study of Pain defines pain as a sensory and an emotional experience, yet no instrument in routine practice quantifies affective hypersensitivity to low-intensity interpersonal stimuli, a pattern we term emotional allodynia, a construct transposed from thermal stimuli in major depression, which this study sets out to validate rather than assume. The Emotional Allodynia Questionnaire (AEQ), an 11-item self-report measure, was preliminarily validated in a single-center fibromyalgia sample, showing excellent internal consistency and a unidimensiona

Health-related quality of life in COPD patients with chronic respiratory failure.

The Maugeri Respiratory Failure (MRF-28) and Severe Respiratory Insufficiency (SRI) questionnaires were recently developed to assess health-related quality of life (HRQoL) in patients with chronic respiratory failure, although not exclusively in chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) patients. The aim of the present study was to investigate whether the MRF-28 and SRI are reliable and valid HRQoL questionnaires in COPD patients with chronic hypercapnic respiratory failure (CHRF). In total, 72 COPD patients with CHRF underwent pulmonary function and exercise testing, and completed the MRF-

Latent profile and network analysis of anxiety and depressive symptoms among undergraduates.

OBJECTIVE: Anxiety and depressive symptoms vary substantially among undergraduate students. This study combined latent profile and symptom network analyses to identify distinct subtypes of co-occurring anxiety and depressive symptoms in undergraduates and clarify the core symptom characteristics of each subtype. The results offer cross-sectional empirical support for developing stratified, targeted psychological interventions in university settings. METHODS: This cross-sectional cluster survey recruited 17,136 full-time undergraduates from two universities in Tangshan City. Participants compl

Alterations in Adipokine Levels Are Associated with Human Perinatal Anxiety and Depression.

Background: Adipokines secreted by the adipose tissue and placenta play a critical role in regulating metabolic functions that are essential for fetoplacental development and embryonic growth. While adipokines are known to impact a wide range of physiological and pathological conditions, their role in affective disorders during pregnancy remains underexplored. In this study, we aimed to assess the serum levels of distinct adipokines and examine their association with anxiety and comorbid depression in pregnant women. Methods: Third-trimester pregnant women with severe anxiety (ANX, n = 45) and

Motor fatigue and fatigability in early multiple sclerosis patients: an analysis of clinical, radiological and psychological underpinnings.

BACKGROUND: While fatigue is highly reported in newly diagnosed people with Multiple Sclerosis (pwMS) and motor fatigability is reported in about 20% of non-disabled patients, relationship among them in early MS has been less studied. OBJECTIVE: To evaluate correlations between fatigue and motor fatigability in early pwMS, and their clinical, radiological, psychological underpinnings. METHODS: Relapsing pwMS aged 18-65 years, Expanded Disability Status Scale (EDSS) score <2.0, disease duration <5 years were recruited. PwMS underwent clinical, cognitive, radiological assessment. Care burden and its predictive factors in parents of newly diagnosed children with acute lymphoblastic leukemia in academic hospitals in China.

PURPOSE: Caring for children with acute lymphoblastic leukemia (ALL) is a distressing experience for parents without medical training. The experience can lead to parents' care burden. This study explored care burden among parents of children with ALL and its related factors. METHODS: A total of 130 parents were surveyed with the Zarit Burden Inventory (ZBI), Perceived Social Support Scale (PSSS), Zung's Self-rating Anxiety Scale (SAS), Zung's Self-rating Depression Scale (SDS), Medical Outcome Study Short Form 36 (SF-36), and a study specific demographic information questionnaire. Neuropsychiatric Features, ADHD and Cognitive Disengagement Syndrome in Children and Adolescents With Celiac Disease: A Controlled Study.

BACKGROUND: Celiac disease is an important gastrointestinal disorder affecting many children and adolescents worldwide. Although psychiatric conditions associated with celiac disease have been previously investigated, studies examining its relationship with newly identified psychiatric diagnoses are limited. The aim of this study was to examine the relationship between attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and a newer diagnostic construct, cognitive disengagement syndrome (CDS). METHOD: The study included children and adolescents aged 7-18 years with a confirmed diagnosis of celiac
