Haematuria following decompression of a distended bladder is a well known condition. The bleeding in such cases originates in the bladder and resolves spontaneously. We describe an elderly man who had bleeding from the kidney following decompression of the bladder. This resulted in an extensive search for an upper tract tumour as a cause for haematuria.

Urinary incontinence postradical prostatectomy is a common problem which adversely affects quality of life. Concomitant bladder neck contracture in the setting of postprostatectomy incontinence represents a challenging clinical problem. Postprostatectomy bladder neck contracture is frequently recurrent and makes surgical management of incontinence difficult. The aetiology of bladder neck contracture and what constitutes the optimum management strategy are controversial. Here we review the literature and also present our approach.

This is a case report concerning a 60 years old man who lived for a short period in an endemic area of Khuzestan Province (neighboring province of Persian Gulf in Iran) for approximately 20 years ago. Recently he referred to the Urology Department of Kerman University of Medical Sciences with hematuria and dysuria. In the sonography a polypoid mass on the bladder floor was observed. In the cystoscopy and biopsy a bladder tumor (Simultaneous squamous cell carcinoma and Transitional Bladder Cell Carcinoma) and schistosomiasis (Schistosoma haematobium) was diagnosed.

A retrospective study on urinary bladder stones among the patients seeking treatment in Okhaldunga Hospital was carried out for six calendar years from 1988 to 1994. Forty-six cases of bladder stones were identified during that period. Among them, 43 patients' records were studied (93.0%) in subsequent analysis. Ninety-seven percent were male with mean age 11.53+/-6.9 years. The number of children are significantly higher in 0-9 years of age (p<0.01). Spinal cord injury (SCI) at Th13 was induced in female Wistar rats, and changes in the urinary bladder were examined during the acute phase of SCI. Wet weights of the spinal bladders increased twofold over controls by 7 days after SCI. Intravesical volumes increased sixfold over control values by day 3, and then decreased 7 days after the injury.
