We report a neovesicovaginal fistula in a woman with an ileal neobladder after radical cystectomy, caused by prolonged retention of a double-J ureteral stent that became calcified. The patient presented with continuous urinary leakage and recurrent infection. Diagnosis was confirmed by cystoscopy, methylene blue testing, and cystography. Transvaginal repair with two-layer closure and anterior vaginal wall reinforcement was performed; a Foley catheter was maintained for 21 days. Recovery was uneventful; the catheter was removed after imaging confirmed no urinary leak. This case emphasizes the n…

A 12-year-old female presented with lower abdominal pain and hematuria following the self-insertion of a pencil into her bladder. Imaging revealed a 10.2 cm radiopaque object, which was removed intact via cystoscopy. Postoperative recovery was uneventful, and psychiatric evaluation diagnosed mild depression, highlighting the need for integrated psychosocial intervention. This case underscores the critical importance of a multidisciplinary approach that combines medical and psychosocial care in the management of intravesical foreign bodies, particularly in pediatric populations. Proactive measu…

Blue-light cystoscopy with intravesical hexyl-aminolevulinate has been shown to improve identification of bladder carcinoma. The application of photodynamic techniques in the upper tract has not been well studied. We present a patient with a patulous ureteral orifice allowing for dwelling of photodynamic reagent and cystoscopic evaluation of the distal ureter. This case was significant for blue light fluorescent, biopsy proven upper tract carcinoma in situ that otherwise would have been a benign examination using traditional white light technique. Future work should be done to study the use of…

Ureteral stents are commonly externalised retrogradely by cystoscopy and exchanged under imaging guidance. When a ureteral stent has migrated proximally into the ureter, it may be snared by ureteroscopy or antegrade percutaneous access; however, ureteroscopy can be challenging in young infants where there is difficulty visualizing the ureteral orifice or a small-calibre ureter. The presented case describes a radiologic technique for retrieval of a proximally migrated ureteral stent in a young infant using a 0.025-in. hydrophilic wire, 4-Fr angiographic catheter, 8-Fr vascular sheath and cystos…

An 88-year-old man was admitted to our hospital with a recurrent lower urinary tract infection. He had a history of open prostatectomy for benign prostatic hyperplasia 15 years ago and smoking. A mass arising within a bladder diverticula was suspected on the left lateral wall of the bladder on ultrasonography. Although no mass was observed in the bladder lumen on the cystoscopy, abdominal CT detected a left-sided pelvic soft tissue mass. A hypermetabolic mass was detected on 18 F-FDG PET/CT performed because of suspicion of malignancy, and it was excised. Granuloma secondary to chronic vasitis…

Spontaneous intraperitoneal bladder rupture is a rare urological case. Repair usually done by operation and conservative management was unusual. We present a case of a 43-year-old man who presented to ED with lower abdominal pain and distension. He underwent a cystoscopy, several rupture and thin bladder wall was found. We decided to managed the patient conservatively with urinary catheter for 1 month. Upon follow up, the patient was in good condition. Conservative treatment with urinary catheter for 1 month may be considered in patients who are in good condition, do not have signs of peritoni…

We report a rare case of prostate cancer that apparently metastasized to the bladder and formed a pedunculated mass that caused a ball valve-like obstruction in urination. A 57-year-old man with metastatic prostate cancer was referred to the emergency department for acute urinary retention. Cystoscopy and magnetic resonance imaging revealed a pedunculated mass measuring approximately 2 cm in size in the bladder neck that appeared to cause urinary obstruction in a ball valve-like manner. Transurethral resection of the bladder tumor was performed that resolved his symptom, and histopathological …

Inverted papilloma of urothelium is a rare benign tumour accounting for 1-2% of all the urothelial lesions. Morphologically, these are of two main subtypes - trabecular and glandular, of which the former subtype is most frequently encountered compared to the latter. The glandular subtype closely mimics cystitis glandularis and urothelial carcinoma with inverted growth pattern. We discuss a case of a 27-year-old male presenting with hematuria. On cystoscopy, he was found to have a bladder mass which was diagnosed as glandular-type of inverted papilloma on histopathology. The image illustrates t…

In this case report, we will discuss three cases of women diagnosed with a periurethral mass. The specific diagnosis of a periurethral mass can vary and includes rare diseases. Therefore, they provide a challenge to medical professionals. All patients underwent diagnostic evaluation with cystoscopy and pelvic MRI followed by surgical removal. Based on the MRI and pathology report, different diagnoses were made for each patient. The three diagnoses will be discussed: subpubic cartilaginous cyst, leiomyoma and clear cell adenocarcinoma of the urethra. Our case report is useful for other medical …

Urethral calculi are extremely rare in pediatric population and are usually presented with dysuria, hematuria, lower urinary tract obstruction, and rarely as a scrotal mass. We here report a giant primary urethral stone presenting as a scrotal mass that developed in the penile urethra resulting from a postsurgical complication of exstrophy-epispadias repair. A 7-year-old boy was admitted with the complaint of scrotal mass and dysuria. Computerized tomography confirmed giant urethral stone impacted to diverticulum of urethra. Cystoscopy revealed a nonobstructed stone in the urethra related to a…
