This study reports the results of a linkage analysis in nine families with members who had neurofibromatosis type 1 (NF1), using five restriction fragment length polymorphisms (RFLPs) tightly linked to the NF1 locus. The purpose of this analysis was to determine whether the at-risk individuals were carrying the NF1 allele and whether the nine families would be informative for prenatal testing. Bacteria of the Borrelia burgdorferi sensu lato (sl) species complex can cause Lyme borreliosis (LB) in humans. PCR plays an important role in the diagnosis of many infectious diseases but it is used auxiliary in LB diagnostics. Here, we re-analysed a previously published real-time PCR targeting the multicopy gene of the large subunit of phage terminase (terL) in Borrelia. We analysed cultured material of Borrelia burgdorferi sl species, serum and clinical tissue samples of LB patients. PCR conditions were as previously described by Shan et al. 2021 but we also investigated PCR modifications.

The phenotypic and molecular genetic characteristics of 4 variant sublines of the Burkitt lymphoma cell line Namalwa have been examined. The sublines are DNA-fingerprint-identical and derived from a monoclonal tumour, as shown by a rearrangement of the T-cell-receptor beta-chain gene common to the 4 sublines. Caudal appendage is a rare dysmorphic feature of which etiologic mechanisms are not well understood. Here we report monozygotic (MZ) twin brothers who are discordant for the caudal appendage and multiple congenital anomalies. Twins were the product of a 33 weeks of gestation, monochorionic-diamniotic pregnancy. On admission the proband had micrognathia, beaked nose, hypospadias, caudal appendage and juxtaductal aorta coarctation.
