Lift Sandwich Grafting Enables Transfemoral Abdominal Aortic Branch Incorporation during Endovascular Aortic Repair for Chronic Type B Aortic Dissection.

Chronic type B aortic dissections with continued aneurysmal expansion of the thoracoabdominal aorta after the initial thoracic endovascular aortic repair represent a subset of aortic pathology in which staged distal extension to seal additional septal tears can be advantageous. This approach may require incorporation of visceral or renal branches into the distal seal zone, while maintaining the possibility of further distal extension in the future. We describe a novel technique for incorporation of the celiac axis, with a branch stent graft delivered from a transfemoral approach, then lifted c

Long-Term Effects of Bone Morphogenetic Protein-2-Loaded Calcium Phosphate on Maxillary Sinus Lift Surgery for Delayed and Simultaneous Dental Implantation.

Maxillary sinus lift surgery (MSLS) is considered to be a useful treatment method for patients with atrophic alveolar bone. Choosing a suitable surgical procedure to simultaneously decrease graft absorption and obtain long-term survival of dental implants is still a challenge. In this study, 20 patients received MSLS with graft of bone morphogenetic protein 2 (BMP2)-loaded calcium phosphate. Dental implants were placed simultaneously in 10 patients receiving MSLS (1-stage group), and in 10 patients receiving dental implants with a 3 to 6 months delay (2-stage group). The effects were evaluated

Molecular, Cellular and Pharmaceutical Aspects of Bone Grafting Materials and Membranes During Maxillary Sinus-lift Procedures. Part 2: Detailed Characteristics of the Materials.

Various grafts or combination of bone substitute materials have been used in sinus lift procedures. Currently, ongoing developments in several disciplines, from molecular biology and chemistry to computer science and engineering, have contributed to the understanding of biological processes leading to bone healing after the use of bone substitute materials (BSBs) and therefore of the behavior of BSBs. The understanding of the properties of each graft enables individual treatment concepts and therefore allows shift from a simple replacement material to the modern concept of an individually crea

Jaw lift causes less laryngeal interference during lightwand-guided intubation than combined jaw and tongue traction applied by single operator.

Lightwand-guided intubation is a semi-blind technique that takes advantage of the anterior location of the trachea in relation to the oesophagus. Fibreoptic evaluation of lightwand-guided intubation has revealed a possibility of laryngeal interference and epiglottic distortion. Jaw lift, tongue traction or a combination of both have been used to assist in lightwand-guided intubation. This study fibreoptically evaluates lightwand-guided intubation using jaw lift and combined jaw and tongue traction. Eighty four patients with normal airway undergoing general anaesthesia were studied. This random

Architecture-data matching for EEG-EMG decoding: compact deep models match classical spectral decoders on the WAY-EEG-GAL grasp-and-lift dataset.

Modern deep learning has broadened the tools available for non-invasive neural decoding, but its advantage over well-engineered classical pipelines remains unclear at clinical neural-engineering sample sizes. We compared four classical decoders, three multilayer perceptron (MLP) variants, and three deep-learning architectures (an EEGNet-style compact convolutional network, a four-layer Transformer encoder trained from scratch, and a graph attention network) on the public WAY-EEG-GAL grasp-and-lift dataset (12 participants, 3,528 trials). Models were evaluated using leave-one-subject-out (LOSO)

Low-temperature Versus High-temperature Sintering: Regenerative and Osteoimmunological Insights from Bio-Oss®, Ti-Oss® in Sinus Lift Surgery.

BACKGROUND/AIM: Maxillary sinus floor elevation is a well-established procedure for increasing bone volume in the posterior maxilla, yet the regenerative outcome depends strongly on the choice of grafting material. This clinical study compared a high-temperature sintered xenograft (Bio-Oss®) and a low-temperature processed xenograft (Ti-Oss®) with regard to their regenerative and immunological profiles. PATIENTS AND METHODS: Eight patients underwent split-mouth sinus augmentation with both materials, and biopsies were retrieved at 6 months after implant placement. Histological, histomorphomet
