PURPOSE: The purpose of this study was to investigate sensitivity of KISA% index to compare with Klyce-Maeda and Smolek-Klyce methods in detection of early or suspected keratoconus by using AutoTopographer TMS-3 (Tomey).

Screening by mammography has considerably increased the number of breast biopsies for mammographic abnormalities without a palpable mass. An underappreciated characteristic of prostate cancer screening is that it may detect some prostate cancers solely by serendipity or chance. Colorectal cancer is both curable and preventable; however, systemic screening has not yet been instituted in the United States. There are a number of diagnostic tests, imaging procedures, and endoscopic examinations available to detect colorectal cancer and polyps in their early stages. This article reviews these various screening options and concludes that the barium enema is the most cost-effective method.

Stored blood spots from state newborn screening programs represent a potential source of DNA for molecular genetics research on birth defects. The radiological characteristics of non-palpable mammographic abnormalities are reviewed and their diagnostic limitations discussed. Alternative methods of detection and diagnosis are reviewed. The development of needle localization for non-palpable mammographic abnormalities is traced from the initial crude excisions through to stereotactic needle localization. Non-palpable carcinomas have a greater proportion of favourable histopathologies. However, the preferred management of these early lesions has yet to be determined.
