Congenital chylous ascites (CCA) is a rare cause of ascites in newborn infants. The main causes include congenital lymphatic obstruction due to atresia or stenosis of the major lacteals, mesenteric cysts and lymphangiomatosis. We report a 57-year-old woman with a primary hepatic carcinoid tumor who had been suffering from symptoms due to carcinoid syndrome and carcinoid heart disease for more than 9 years. We investigated 2 patients affected with Cushing's syndrome due to the ectopic production of adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH) by a small cell lung carcinoma.
