The relationship between premorbid personality and schizophrenic symptoms assessed by the Scales for the Assessment of Positive and Negative Symptoms was explored in 115 DSM-III-R schizophrenics. A number of previous studies have delineated Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory (MMPI) characteristics in patients with multiple personality. To test the accuracy of the MMPI in identifying such patients, the authors blindly rated 63 MMPIs as being either multiple personality or not. The over-all hit rate for the entire sample was 71.4%, with a 68% hit rate for correctly identified patients with multiple personality. The authors administered the Diagnostic Interview Schedule to 21 patients with borderline personality disorder. The patients met criteria for various other DSM-III diagnoses, meeting exclusion criteria in some cases, and not in other cases. The paper is concerned with the results of a study of the personality, of the intellectual development and psychosocial status in 137 patients aged 5 to 50 years suffering from hemophilia. As compared to the control group, insufficient social and labour adaptation of adult patients was established in spite of the positive characteristics of the personality and higher mentality in the patients at preschool and school ages. It is concluded that the problem requires further study with the use of the data obtained in psychosocial rehabilitation of this patients' group.

Insight psychotherapy had been ineffective in helping a schizoid patient experience affect. He remained cold, aloof, and without overt expression of affect. When hypnosis was utilized, the patient overtly demonstrated affect. Hence the title for the article--hypnosis was effective in changing the tin man into a person with emotions and feelings. Twenty-one patients with primary Sjogrens' syndrome were investigated for hostility structure and psychiatric symptomatology. It was observed that they manifested high levels of hostility with an intropunitive direction in combination with highly scored delusional items of guilt and paranoid hostility.
