Innovative knee surgery: arthroscopic double bundle U-DOS reverse Technique for PCL tears.

The Double Bundle U-DOS Reverse Technique for posterior cruciate ligament (PCL) tears is a novel arthroscopic technique that combines two well-known procedures: the mono-tunnel approach and the medial-portal approach, provides better posterior stability, improved functional outcomes, and a reduced risk of posterior tibial subluxation. This technique allows for the simultaneous treatment of anterolateral and posteromedial bundles and has been successfully performed on 16 patients, with follow-up showing sufficient support and resistance to posterior tibial subluxation or excessive displacement,

Medicaid Patients Face Limited Access to Care for Ankle Sprains in Unexpanded States.

PURPOSE: Our goal was to determine whether state Medicaid expansion and patient insurance statuses affected access to care for ankle sprain patients. METHODS: Four pairs of Medicaid expanded (Kentucky, Louisiana, Iowa, and Arizona) and unexpanded (North Carolina, Alabama, Wisconsin, and Texas) states were chosen. Twelve practices from each state (N = 96) were randomly selected from the American Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society (AOFAS) directory and called twice to request an appointment for a fictitious 16-year-old with a first-time ankle sprain using either Medicaid insurance or Blue Cross

Hip and Groin Injuries Among Collegiate Male Soccer Players: The 10-Year Epidemiology, Incidence, and Prevention.

The physical and demanding style of play in soccer places these athletes at an elevated risk for hip and groin injuries. Several studies have examined hip and groin injuries in professional and youth soccer in European countries, but few have involved American counterparts. Hip injury data were analyzed retrospectively from the National Collegiate Athletic Association Injury Surveillance Program for the 2004 to 2014 academic years for collegiate men's soccer. This study found that hip and groin injuries among collegiate male soccer players were most often new injuries (87.8%; n=527) that were

The Epidemiology of High Ankle Sprains in National Collegiate Athletic Association Sports.

BACKGROUND: Ankle sprains are among the most common injuries experienced by collegiate athletes. The type of ankle sprain is rarely differentiated in epidemiological studies. This differentiation is necessary, as each ankle sprain type has a unique injury mechanism and recovery period. High ankle sprains commonly result in long recovery periods. Thus, a further examination of the epidemiology of high ankle sprains is warranted. PURPOSE: To describe the epidemiology of high ankle sprains in National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) sports during the 2009/2010-2014/2015 academic years. S

Does a not-so-recent ankle sprain influence interjoint coordination during walking?

BACKGROUND: Ankle sprains are common joint injuries in daily and sports activities, whose underlying mechanisms have been amply studied. If joint structures are directly damaged, neuromuscular activity can be affected, particularly in the time domain. This study aims to establish whether previous ankle injury correlates with changes in the inter-joint synergy of the entire lower limb and in the muscle activity pattern during walking. METHODS: Three-dimensional walking-gait analysis was conducted on twenty-four adults. Ten of them had never suffered from ankle sprain; fourteen had suffered fro
