OBJECTIVE: The latent tuberculosis infection (LTBI) is a state of persistent immune response to stimulation by Mycobacterium Tuberculosis antigens without clinical manifestation: the healthcare workers (HCWs) have a higher exposure risk so prevention is an important challenge for occupational medicine. Tuberculosis (TB) is a major cause of morbidity and mortality worldwide. TB control programmes need improvement in the diagnosis of latent TB infection. The tuberculin skin test (TST) is far from a 'gold' standard as it often gives false results. Interferon-gamma assays are newly available tests to detect latent TB infection, but they are currently not routinely used. Two purified protein derivatives (PPDs) were prepared from Mycobacterium tuberculosis, H37Ra. One of the PPDs was prepared from the culture filtrate of organisms grown on Proskauer-Beck medium to which trace elements had been added. OBJECTIVE: To evaluate stability of delayed-type hypersensitivity (DTH) skin test over time in human immunodeficiency virus (HIV)-seropositi … unt below 0.50 x 10(9)/L and particularly below 0.35 x 10(9)/L. For determining false negativity of tuberculin tests, persistent DTH anergy is more reliable than a single test among HIV-seropositive injecting drug users. Anergy testing appears to be unnecessary with CD4 cell counts greater than 0.5 x 10(9)/L.

We report a case of a 40-year-old man with no comorbidities who presented with progressive vision loss in the right eye. Fundoscopy revealed peripapillary and posterior pole serpiginous-like lesions without overt vitritis. The central optical coherence tomography revealed subretinal fluid consistent with central serous chorioretinopathy, prompting treatment with spironolactone 100 mg daily for two months, which did not improve the condition.
