OBJECTIVE: Evaluate the use of lingual mucosal graft (LMG) in anterior urethral strictures.
METHODS: From January 2001 to December 2006, 29 men (mean age, 48.5 yr) with anterior urethral strictures underwent graft urethroplasty with LMG. The mean length of stricture was 3.6cm. The use of oral mucosa for urethral stricture repair has become the standard approach in reconstructive urethral surgery. Compared to other tissues oral mucosa shows several advantages, such as simple harvesting, good urine tolerance and low harvesting morbidity. For defects of the male bulbar urethra measuring 2 cm or longer, urethral reconstruction with oral mucosa is the procedure of choice. The oral mucosa graft can be used as an inlay or as an onlay graft. Most repairs can be completed in one stage but for complex strictures two stages are needed.

OBJECTIVES: Patients requiring urethral reconstruction but who have a paucity of usable genital tissue present a considerable technical challenge. Herein we report the experience of three centers in the use of buccal mucosa for urethral replacement.

Misdiagnosis of a urethral foreign body (FB) as urethral stricture leads to inadequate management and prolonged treatment duration. A 55-year-old male patient was referred with complaints of difficulty in voiding and poor urinary stream for 2 months. OBJECTIVE: To report a case of urethral carcinoma presenting as scrotal abscess.
METHODS: A 53-year-old man presented with swelling, redness and pain in the scrotum. He had a history of urethral stricture and multiple scrotal abscesses. Incision and drainage were performed and the patient was treated with antibiotics without improvement. Incision and drainage were repeated and a biopsy of the tissue edges of the abscess were performed.

We performed 22 full thickness skin graft urethroplasties for treatment of urethral stricture disease or hypospadias. Excellent results were achieved in 18 cases in which a penile skin donor site was used. Three failures occurred in 4 cases in which the full thickness graft was raised from the inner aspect of the upper arm. These results suggest caution when extrapenile skin is used for such repairs.

OBJECTIVES: To analyze the long-term results of treatment of urethral strictures by internal endoscopic urethrotomy, a simple, easily reproducible procedure that carries a low morbidity and requires a short period of convalescence.
