Sub-Saharan Africa and the health MDGs: the need to move beyond the "quick impact" model.

The Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) were defined in 2001, making poverty the central focus of the global political agenda. In response to MDG targets for health, new funding instruments called Global Health Initiatives were set up to target specific diseases, with an emphasis on "quick win" interventions, in order to show improvements by 2015. In 2005 the UN Millennium Project defined quick wins as simple, proven interventions with "very high potential short-term impact that can be immediately implemented", in contrast to "other interventions which are more complicated and will take a deca

A validity and reliability study of the care challenge scale (CCS) among turkish caregivers of patients with Alzheimer's disease.

This study adapted the Care Challenge Scale (CCS) into Turkish and evaluated its validity and reliability for Turkish caregivers of Alzheimer's patients. The CCS was translated and validated through exploratory and confirmatory factor analyses with a sample of 100 caregivers. The Cronbach alpha coefficient was 0.915 overall, and 0.835 and 0.905 for the subscales. Test-retest reliability was r=0.700. The content validity index (CVI) was 0.80. Exploratory factor analysis explained 68.446% of variance across two subscales (lack of social-financial support, effective roleplay challenge). Confirmat…

Unveiling lives: A glimpse into the daily routines of individuals affected by leprosy in Malaysia using the walk-and-talk technique.

Leprosy, though curable, continues to present physical and psychosocial challenges for those affected. This study explored how individuals affected by leprosy in Malaysia navigated daily life, societal expectations, and personal challenges through the walk-and-talk technique, a participant-led qualitative approach that fostered spontaneous storytelling and reflexivity. By guiding researchers through their environments, participants shaped the narrative, shifting power dynamics and enabling authentic dialogue. Six participants from Kelantan and Selangor shared their everyday activities, aspirat

The role of geopolitical uncertainty on shaping carbon neutrality policy: Moderating influence of digital transformation.

Climate change compels organisations to pursue carbon neutrality, yet recent global uncertainties-such as the COVID-19 pandemic, geopolitical tensions, and trade tariffs-have prompted many to reassess these strategies. Empirical evidence on how geopolitical uncertainty affects carbon neutrality policies and their financial implications is limited. Simultaneously, digital transformation is increasingly leveraged to support sustainability initiatives. Drawing on contingency theory, this study examines the impact of geopolitical uncertainty on carbon neutrality policies and their capacity to gene

Understanding Image-Based Sexual Abuse Through Greek Public and Legal Lenses: A Constructionist Thematic Analysis.

Image-Based Sexual Abuse (IBSA), including deepfake sexual abuse - where fake yet lifelike sexual content is generated of non-consenting persons - constitutes a growing form of digitally mediated gender-based violence that remains largely under-researched within non-Anglophonic contexts. This study explores how IBSA is constructed and perceived by both laypeople and lawyers in Greece, a Southern European setting characterised by economic precarity, traditional gender norms, and evolving yet challenging legal frameworks. Drawing on semi-structured interviews with 21 participants either originat
