Chondroid syringoma is a benign, rare, asymptomatic, slow-growing mixed tumor. Tumors larger than 3cm are considered giant and may be malignant. We present a 65-year-old man with a chronic, indolent, subcutaneous tumor with upper lip deformity. An excisional biopsy was performed under local anesthesia. Based on histopathological analysis, the resected lesion was identified as a chondroid syringoma of the apocrine type. There was no recurrence during the one-year follow-up after surgery. The occurrence of a large chondroid syringoma in the upper lip is rare.

Cleft lip is a common malformation in Chile. The standard care for cleft lip and palate repair is inpatient admission; this is mainly to observe complications and administer intravenous fluids, antibiotics, and analgesics. In our center, however, a strict selection of patients undergo ambulatory surgeries. In this paper, we illustrate our experience managing outpatient cleft lip and palate repair and show that it is possible to carry out a successful ambulatory surgery with few to no complications in children and adults with cleft lip and palate.

AIM: To evaluate the implementation of a clinical pathway (CP) and identify clinical factors affecting the CP for cleft lip and palate (CLP) patients.
METHODS: A specific CP for CLP patients was developed at CLP Medical Center of Stomatological Hospital affiliated to Nanjing Medical University in 2008. The authors reviewed the collected data of 1810 consecutive patients using the CP for repairing cleft lip, cleft palatal, and alveolar cleft. Glomus tumours in the lip are extremely rare with only 13 cases, including this one, recorded in the English language that we know of. We report a 45-year-old woman with a firm, mildly painful lump in her upper lip. Excisional biopsy examination and histopathological analysis showed it to be a subtype of glomus tumour called a glomangioma.
