Psychometric Evaluation of the Motivators and Resources for Trauma Recovery (I- MOVE) Scale Among Gender-Based Violence Survivors.

Gender-based violence (GBV) is a pervasive public health issue with profound psychological, relational, and structural consequences. While survivors draw upon internal resources, external resources, internal motivators, and external motivators throughout the healing process, existing instruments typically assess these constructs independently rather than within a unified, survivor-centered framework. The Motivators and Resources for Trauma Recovery (I-MOVE) Scale was developed to address this gap through a strengths-based assessment of recovery facilitators among women survivors of GBV. The fo

EMG reactivity and oral habits among young adult headache sufferers and painfree controls in a scheduled-waiting task.

Previous research has shown that patients with facial pain exhibit a pattern of physiological and behavioral reactivity to scheduled-waiting tasks that may help account for the development of facial pain. The present study extended this line of research by examining the psychophysiological reactivity of headache sufferers in a similar task. A total of 34 frequent headache sufferers screened by International Headache Society (IHS) criteria and 13 painfree controls completed a psychophysiological assessment consisting of 4 phases (adaptation, free-play, scheduled-play, and recovery) that include

Perceptions of the feasibility and acceptability of a smartphone application for the treatment of binge eating disorders: Qualitative feedback from a user population and clinicians.

BACKGROUND: Binge eating, a major public health problem, is characterized by recurrent episodes of out-of-control eating in which an individual consumes an unusually large amount of food in a discrete time period. Limitations of existing treatments for binge eating (both in-person psychotherapy and guided self-help) indicate that smartphone applications (apps) may be an ideal alternative or enhancement. An app for binge eating could aid treatment dissemination, engagement, and/or compliance. However, no research to date has examined user perceptions of a therapeutic app for binge eating, which

Abdominal stab wounds: self-inflicted wounds versus assault wounds.

Intentional penetrating wounds, self inflicted or inflicted by others, are increasingly common. As a result, it can be difficult for the forensic examiner to determine whether the cause is self-inflicted or not. This type of trauma has been studied from a psychological perspective and from a surgical perspective but the literature concerning the forensic perspective is poorer. The objective of this study was to compare the epidemiology of abdominal stab wounds so as to distinguish specific features of each type. This could help the forensic scientist to determine the manner of infliction of th
