Among 10 patients with primary open-angle glaucoma with a filtration "pseudo-cushion" that prevented compensation of intraocular pressure after trabeculectomy, normalization of intraocular pressure by means of medicamentous treatment (thymolol) could be achieved in 1 patient; in the rest of the patients surgical intervention was required. UNLABELLED: We report 2 cases of inadvertent filtering blebs that developed vision-threatening complications many years after uneventful cataract extraction with scleral incisions. These inadvertent blebs can create complications similar to the intentionally produced blebs from trabeculectomy surgery; thus, follow-up and management should be handled in a similar manner.

This is a typical case of Hallermann-Streiff-Francois Syndrome in which the glaucomatous complication may be caused by developmental malformations in the anterior segment of the eye. Bilateral trabeculectomy succeeded in controlling the tension after a follow-up of two years. Glaucomatous complication seems to be frequent and as important as the other described cardinal symptoms. The histologic examination of the skin confirmed the atrophic changes that were observed clinically.

Trichothiodystrophy belongs to a group of rare genetic diseases characterized by DNA repair anomalies. Ocular manifestations can occur in 50% of cases, including cataract, refractive errors, strabismus, microcornea, microphthalmia, dry eye, and pigmentary macular changes. We report a case of childhood glaucoma in a patient with trichothiodystrophy who underwent trabeculectomy in the left eye. To our knowledge, this is the first clinical report of childhood glaucoma associated with trichothiodystrophy.
