Examination of stool specimens by Kato-Katz (K-K) thick smears is the standard method recommended by the WHO for field diagnosis of intestinal schistosomiasis. Multi-fetal pregnancy reduction (MFPR) is an ethically acceptable procedure aimed to increase survival and well-being of the remaining fetuses from high-order multiple gestations. In most cases we offer the procedure to triplets or quadruplets and opt to preserve twins; lately, the option to maintain a single fetus was suggested. We examined the outcomes of 140 pregnancies that underwent MFPR in our center and were followed to delivery - 105 were reduced to twins and 35 to singletons. Alpha 62-year-old man was presented with bilateral cataract, proximal muscle weakness and difficulty in relaxing the hands after voluntary contraction. Idiopathic hypoparathyroidism was diagnosed. Electrophysiological study showed spontaneous motor unit action potentials, occurring and disappearing abruptly, as duplets, triplets and multiplets, with an intra-burst frequency of up to 100 Hz and some of them waning in amplitude, findings consistent with neuromyotonia.

Seven-week-old 32-week premature triplets were hospitalized because of rhinorrhea, cough with color change and posttussive emesis. One infant had a positive direct fluorescent antibody test for Bordetella pertussis, so all were treated with 5 days of azithromycin. Two of the infants were subsequently diagnosed with hypertrophic pyloric stenosis and underwent surgical pyloromyotomies 6 and 7 weeks, respectively, after the initial admission.

We present a coordination polymer based on rare-earth metal centers and carboxylated 4,4'-diphenyl-2,2'-bipyridine ligands. We investigate Y3+, Lu3+, Eu3+, and a statistical mixture of Y3+ with Eu3+ as metal centers.
