INTRODUCTION: Knotting during urethral catheterization in children is an unpleasant situation. We aimed to minimize this risk.
METHOD: To prevent knot formation, we must understand its nature. We focused on the simplest, and most fundamental, known as overhand knot.
RESULTS: Calculating the maximum length of catheter inserted in the bladder without risk of knotting, we estimated the minimum length of catheter needed for an overhand knot.
DISCUSSION: This theoretical approach provides a rough estimation which may contribute to secure catheterization.

GOAL: This work introduces an integrated system incorporated seamlessly with a commercial Foley urinary catheter for bacterial growth sensing and biofilm treatment.
METHODS: The system is comprised of flexible, interdigitated electrodes incorporated with a urinary catheter via a 3D-printed insert for impedance sensing and bioelectric effect-based treatment. Each of the functions were wirelessly controlled using a custom application that provides a user-friendly interface for communicating with a custom PCB via Bluetooth to facilitate implementation in practice.

We describe a single J urethral catheter which has been specially designed to facilitate stabilization during voiding in pressure flow studies. It has a tip with three circles, which prevents the catheter from slipping out even when there is a sudden increase in intra-abdominal pressure.
