The objective of this retrospective study was to compare preoperative and postoperative tracheal measurements in brachycephalic dogs undergoing surgical treatment of brachycephalic airway syndrome (BAS) using 2 radiographic methods (TD:TI and TT:3R). Medical records of 24 brachycephalic dogs with surgically corrected BAS were reviewed. OBJECTIVE: To assess the perioperative complications and the outcome when treating small-breed dogs with cranial cruciate ligament insufficiency with tibial tuberosity advancement using the TTA Rapid implant.
MATERIALS AND METHODS: 40 dogs (48 stifles) with cranial cruciate ligament insufficiency and body weight of 15 kg or less. Diagnosis was confirmed by arthroscopy or arthrotomy, followed by tibial tuberosity advancement surgery. Six weeks after surgery, the dogs were re-evaluated with clinical examination and radiography. CASE DESCRIPTION: A 4-year-old sexually intact male mixed-breed dog was evaluated because of clinical signs of acute-onset pelvic limb ataxia, rapidly progressing to paraplegia with severe spinal hyperesthesia.
CLINICAL FINDINGS: General physical examination revealed pyrexia, tachycardia, and tachypnea. Neurologic examination demonstrated severe spinal hyperesthesia and paraplegia with decreased nociception.
